Does anyone know a good manufacturer for a reasonable amount of money? I'm interested in getting some leather bibs. Bought two pairs of nylon last year and both after a full day on the trail gave me a wet butt. Any info would be appreciated.

I know I will catch some heat for this but I would stick with the sythetics if you do any moving around. Leathers are warm but are a bit bulky and keep the moisture in if you do ride aggressive. KLIM makes some nice gear but are a bit pricey. Personally I have a set of waterproof Columbia Titanium bibs and use just a Castle race jacket but there are many good jackets. I've used the bibs 3 seasons now and I can still sit in a puddle of water and not get wet. They aren't real heavy so I usually where them over top of a pair of fleece pants which aids in keeping moisture off the body. Best part is I got the bibs %50 off at the Columbia store here for $75, not bad considering the price I've paid for bibs in the past.

I wear KLIM gear myself and I must say a bit pricey. But very very
light weight and comfortable and I have never ever had a WET BUTT!!
Did I mention WARM too. Check them out if you wish.

I too am in the market and have recently been told that the leather will cause you to sweat pretty easily and still end up wet. I glad I checked it out before I spent the money on a pair. I think the synthetic is the way to go.

Thanks to all for the great information. I ride with a friend in Cadillac who swears by leather but I'm going to look into KLIM. Right now I've got Cold Wave and although they keep me warm my caboose gets wet when the weather is warmer.
Here's hoping for a long, snowy winter.
