I can't seem to find it in the posts I know it's here. What I was wondering is there any difference in performance between a efi or carb F7. Trying to decide on maybe getting a new sled I never had an efi sled just wondering if any better than carb. Thanks for the help.

mine is an efi,,, I cant say it performs better or worse than a carbed firecat, but I can say that it is virtually NO maintenance as compared to a carb. I absolutely love it and will never go back to carbs again after this experiance.

EFI RULES. If you have a choice between carbs or efi, buy the efi. Just think you will never mess with a choke, the sled always runs at top performance no matter what the temperature is or weather conditions, plugs don't foul, better fuel economy, one or two pull starts. My wife has a 94' Pantera with efi. I only remember changing the spark plugs once and that was just for good measures. At the beginning of the season I just run the first tank of gas with a good fuel injector cleaner. No more pulling of carbs and cleaning every year. Need I say more.

have fun when it dose take a #### $$$$$$$$$
go carb u can do more things to it without worry
thats my 2 cents
never had a problem with a carb f7 so far
i agree that carbs are a little better if u are into modding, but with the new pac system for the efi cats, it does the same thing as a carb and a heck of a lot easier to adjust the pac than put in new jets to lean it out when u line your fcat up with your buddies sled.

Yeah I'd rather have carbs cause I like to modify my toys, but I thought I'd give efi a try kinda wondering how big a pain they are if I do modify and how reliable efi is. Thanks for the help :D

I prefer carbs myself. I always figured that with carbs, I can always get it to run, at least a little, just to get back from the trail but with an EFI.... If the module goes out in the middle of the woods (and yes, sometimes they do) its towing time. Just my thoughts.

Go efi. A carb sled will only perform as good as the guy setting it up were the efi will perform consistently in all weather conditions and elevations. Also with the new Boondocker box adding mods is even easier then on a carb you still get the temp and elev adjustment of the efi after you change the fuel amounts. Also you can change the fuel adjustment in 3 different RPM adjustments. I think BMP will be coming out with a nice controller yet this fall or winter to from what I understand.

Imagine everytime the temp changes, you jump off the sled and adjust the carb. Everytime the altitude changes, assuming you run in areas where it differs you jump off and adjust the carb. Imagine adjusting the carb to a different load of gas, octane goes up a bit or down. Imagine being able to adjust the carb as you grab the throttle and gas it hard, or running along easy going down hill for a couple minutes.
It would be a full time job. This is exactly what EFI does, all the time.
If you mod the sled, get a controller and adjust it.
Best part about efi from a practical stand point is just starting it up and letting it idle without having to play with a choke or flooding it out, or all the other games you play with a carb. Just start it up and go put your gear on. By the time you get back to the sled, you are ready to ride.
Can't imagine why anyone would go back to a carb after having efi.
And for reliability, it is all solid state stuff, and is just as reliable as your tv set. So all the hoopla about getting stuck in the woods is possible but not very likely. Ask yourself how many times the efi on your car crapped out and compare that to the same design unit on a sled. It isn't very likely.
So go ahead and treat yourself. You won't regret it unless you simply like to work on sleds because there is nothing better to do.
I prefer riding them over working on them.
