: Modding A Bravo
Hi Guys,
I know modding a bravo is not that practical, but i think it would be cool.
Anyone do anything to make the bravo a bit faster?
I know the chassis cannot take much, one of my friends cracked the tunnel on his bravo riding it too hard :)
Maybe an easy engine swap, different clutches?
I saw a little while back the Tundra with the liquid cooled engine, simmons flexi-skis. That one was cool!! :hallo1:
If anyone has one, post some pics!!
Thanks
Yamahammer 09-27-2005, 02:51 PM We own a 1986 bravo trapper and by far the best mod we did to it was ski skins. They might not make it faster on hardpack but they add so much flotation to the bravo that it is amazing!!
To make it go faster, id say check and make sure all the bearings are still good, and replace any bad ones, change sliders and/or track clips if theyre worn and possible alot of drag to them. Eliminating drag will be your best bet to make it faster as there isnt alot to do to the bravo in terms of power. However, I suppose you can make your own custom pipe and remove or gut the airbox, and put VForce3 reeds in it.
I know about the ski skins, but i was wondering if it's possible to put different cylinders and\or pipe, different secondary maybe?
There are litterally hundreds of Bravo's in my community, but they are all stock.
People buy them here because they are bulletproof, if you can manage to break it, that means you were Really trying to break it.
Having a modded bravo would help differenciate from the other ones.
Thanks for the suggestion
FF500 09-27-2005, 06:32 PM im sure if you really try you could make a bigger engine fit in there, like a 340 or something. couple years back one of my friends put a 440 polaris motor in an elan, wasnt pretty but he got it too fit, ran good too
Mighty RX-1 09-27-2005, 06:55 PM See if you can swap out the ignition module with one from a 250 enticer and you'll turn that 45 MPH sled into a 70 mph one. The bravo has a built in governor.
godsmke5 09-27-2005, 07:47 PM my old sled was a 88 bravo, and it had and still does have the go go in her today. id try making some custom pipes for it. make sound unique. maybe bore it over if you can
yammyman 09-27-2005, 09:18 PM man i want to do i took the pipe off, wanting to tune it a bit, another big idea i had was to put a different suspension in it, like a old polaris one or something (haven't thought of it to much) i took the plasic covers off the motor, not shur if it really did anything
that 250 enticer electrical idea is definitely something to look into if its possible

I hope your not talking about the fan shroud. If you are, put them back on or you'll overheat that little guy :bash:
Good ideas guys, the suspension swap would be killer!
Has anyone swapped the ignition module like Mighty RX-1 said?
Good ideas so far, keep 'em coming!
Anyone have one of the short track bravo's?
Those were awesome to drive, they stopped making them a few years back, wonder if a member owned one?
FF500 09-28-2005, 01:02 PM buddy of mine has a short track bravo, tiny thing, solid though.

One of the funniest things I have ever seen. The exhaust is held up by string.....not wire, not some type of cable clamp.....string. lol! I wish I had an old sled to play around with like that. Would be a real fun thing to do!

I thought the same thing too, not to mention that it is copper, and the attachment to the pipe from the stock exhaust is a clamp, :lmao:
Also, whats the PC pop bottle, and indoor lighting toggle switches doing on a snowmobile :dazed:
seancrazy1 10-04-2005, 03:13 PM Heres some mods I did to my 300. Ignition, ported exaust, heads milled, ported heads, jetted, NGK 8 plugs. Don't run 9's, the fowl way to fast. FOR NEWER SLEDS USE 9's. I run 8's, because my sled fowls the plugs a lot. Even though I have oil injection, I put some oil in the gas. I'm thinking of putting an enticer, suspension and track in it. I've road it a couple times. It's crashed a lot, but still takes a good beating.

i know lol, im going to attemp to do shocks like that soon, just got to find some those ones look like they were off a little dirtbike
yammyman 10-04-2005, 03:36 PM whoops forgot to mention, notice the bmx pegs on the chassie? that screams hardcore mountain sled.....
seancrazy1 10-04-2005, 08:05 PM Could u imagine it on the news "World record mountain climb speed set on 86 250 bravo. LOL
When i saw those pegs, first thing that came to mind was Napoleon Dynamite!!!!
yammyman 10-04-2005, 09:59 PM ok i tried that suspension thing today, got some off a old dirtbike with duel shocks at the back, i took the two bolts below the tunnel out and pulled the whole system down, then bloted the top of the shock the the tunnel and the bottom to the place when it usually bolted into the tunnel, i tightend the track as much as posible, and put it right side up. the grab bar was up to my stomach! i tried to drive it, got 30 feet then the track fell off and i couldent tighten it anymore so im remounting the top of the shock back more to lower the sled a bit... it will work just needs doem fine tuning
seancrazy1 10-05-2005, 01:22 PM Lets see it. This is gonna make us :lmao:
700tripleviper 10-20-2005, 02:41 PM one thing you can do is change the primary. get a primary off an enticer and try that. I know of a few poeple that have done thisand it made a noticeable difference in speed.
