My brother got a 95 this summer that had 225000 miles on it. It was not pampered either. It was used to haul fertilizer. Very good motor.

Definatly a high miler engine. Cant beat the Ford 300 *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/exclamation.gif

As far as things to check for........

Oil pan gasket ooozing out
Ball joints/axle joints
Radius arm bushings
Clutch slave cylinder leaks
Rearmost shakels (rust out bigtime)
Rear axle seals leaking gear oil.

Not to scare you,but these are the main problems we have seen with these trucks at the shop.

Don't forget to check where the steering box mounts to the frame. *I believe that all three of the domestic automakers have had problems with stress cracks there.

That straight six is a tough engine and will last a long time if properly taken care of. Only bad thing is that it kinda lacks towing power. Atleast towing anything of size.

It makes you wonder why Ford discontinued it and went with a V6 that doesn't last 100000 miles. *hmmm http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sarcasm.gif

I can't agree. *I had a 95 F150 Eddie Bauer that had the I6, and I towed a four place with four sleds and one in the back. *It had no problem. *It was a 5 speed.

Yeah, I had an 1987 F-150 5 speed with an in line 6, I loved that truck but I used it to haul cattle to the aution barn and it was a pooch, granted there was quite a bit more weight there than a four place loaded with sleds. If all your going to pull is a couple of sleds you'll be more than happy. Good Luck with your new truck!!!
