My father-in-law backed into our 2004 Concorde the other day, causing a big ol' dent in the rear driver's door. It's shot, but he hit it just right, so that no damage was done to the pillar, rear quarter, front door, or rocker.
I bought a used door in good condition for $200. The color is close, but it will need to be painted to match exactly. The door is off of a 2000 Concorde, so the moulding around the window is a little different, and so is the door trim.
I don't have any time to do the swap, so I took the car and the used door to one of my customers, who owns a body shop. I asked him to swap the trim, moulding, window, guts, interior, hook up the electric window and lock, etc. Then, clean up a 4" surface rust spot along the seam on the inside bottom, spray the door and blend into the front door and rear quarter.
For labor and materials, he said he'd charge $500. Is this a fair price? I used to do body work, but it's been about 10 years, so I'm unsure of going rates.
I'll try to get a picture posted tomorrow.
