Just wondering if any other firecat riders have any ideas for mods for my 05 F7 efi, shes brand new straight from theif river but didn't get sold last year. I am just picking it up this week, I am upgrading from a 2002 ZR600 carb, but i want to add a little extra to the new cat,, perhaps a cluth from D@D with a new y-pipe and pac system what do you guys think or has anybody had any luck with any other mods????? Pray for SNOW!!!!!!!!

being that your last sled was a zr 600, I dont think your going to have to mod it out at all.......just push the gas in further!

the Bikeman pipe mod and supertip clutch kit along with a 2.5* timing key will give you excellent results!!!

2.5 key y pipe and pac would be a good combo. need to run it first so you'll know any difference. keep apv's clean

Great stuff to use BUT ONLY if your capable of watching plug color / piston wash.............no sense blowing up a new sled just for the sake of a lil more rock n roll.

I would stick with the D&D y pipe and a timing key and also the clutch kit from D&D. I seen the Y pipe in action on the grass and looked good. I don't think I would try the Bikeman pipe mod just yet as it it to new and might be overrated. I always found it best to stick with one aftermarket supplier than mix matching, that way you can get honest answers when something goes wrong or does not work. A loose track and tight belt with a good set up rear skid for transfer will give you a good head start also. Good luck...

I tested the first BMP pipe mod almost a year ago and can say it definently works,we had to add 2 grams of weight to get the rpm's back down and you could feel the difference right away!!

I am curious as to what you tested that pipe on (year and size) F7 F6 F8 F9? The reason I ask is I almost sent my pipe out to Bikeman and when speaking to one of his staff they told me it would give me UP TO 10 HP as they had just dynoed it on an F7. Needless to say I had a hard time beleiving that. I am not sure that he had his facts inline. 10hp for 150$, priceless. Now I could see it giving it a couple of ponies for the F8 or 9 even the F7. Has anyone else got this mod for true field results also? Wanna hear more. thanx

well the F-8 and F-9 have a compleatly different mod than the F-7 (not even sure if there is a mod for the F-6)but the mod I was refering to is for the F-7 tested on a '05. I haven't seen the dyno numbers but just from the difference I felt and having to add weight to the primary I wouldn't be surprised that it gave 7hp or more!! Erich hs done several pipe mods for the 700 and there are alot of positive posts about this on HCS forum.my personal experience with BMP is that they are a no BS company and are a great bunch of guys that really know whats what.

I'd guess that the were was a slight miscomunication on the 10hp. They have been dynoing at an extra 10hp but that was with the pipe mod, Ypipe, and fuel restrictor. I wouldn't worry about putting the Ypipe and Pipe mod togethor which is what I did because BMP sells D&D products and has done plenty of testing with the two in combination. Erich is definetly a great guy to deal with real easy to talk to and very straight foward I felt.

you havent even rode the sled yet and your worrying it isnt fast enough. nothing I like better than heading down the lake with my bone stock firecat and beating or coming within feet of the guys spending thousands to( modify)thier sleds. dont believe everything you read. Before I spent my money I would want more proof than Idid it and it feels faster.

well If you just sit around waiting for your proof you going to to be pretty sad when you get it handed to ya by anouther "stock" F-cat!!BMP and D&D are really well known ,so why would they jepardize there rep to sell something that doesn't work??? and can your sled ever really be fast enough?? not mine!

sit around??? take my sled to the lake to the lake every sunday, the day i get it( handed to me) by someone who strapped an aftermarket pipe on thier sled Ill be the first one in line to buy one!!! The key word is (UP TO) 10 extra horsepower. that doesnt mean your getting 10 horse.

well from my experience it does work ,as many others on HCS can back this up,it is a proven mod, there are dyno #'s from dynotech to prove the gains you are looking for!!weather it is 7hp or 10 hp,whatever,I'd rip my sled apart in a minute to get ANY extra hp out of it,so $150 isn't to much for a gain like that!IMO I'm just tring to put out usefull information so don't buy it if you don't want but don't be surprised when you meet up with someone who has!!

speeking of dyno tech, if you read the dyno results. you'll see stock f7 efi gains are ecm, timing key,pac system, and y pipe. to start with. some tests worked better with stock pipe. also says further testing bmp pipe on stock f7's were to come.i'm going back to old school here and say only change one thing at a time so you know what works and what don't. also there has been a varience in stock hp out of the box.so some mods may work better than others. safer to do testing on a dyno if you can.

Thanks for all the info guys. Its not that I think the sled isn't fast enough stock I have rode a few and they are great with no mods. I am going to give it a month or so of riding then maybe do the y-pipe and pac system upgrade. I dont want to do anything to crazy to the motor cause i dont want to mess it up, also the D@D clutch kit sounds really good, I am told there is no difference in the top end with it just that it jumps out of the hole and backshifts great. Thanks again.

If you go to hardcoresledder.com you can see Erich just got back from dynotech and got 5hp. on a stock '04 F-7 and anouther 1-2hp from the D&D y-pipe,etc.. (FIRECAT FORUM)
also dynoed a ported F-7 with timing and pipe mod at 160 hp. !!!!!!granted it started out at 145hp STOCK!!

Upgrade your 05 clutch to the new 10.4 " 06 clutch or get your stock clutched machined by bikeman for increased performance and belt life.
Bikeman has a very good clutch kit for the 05s, I have tested them in Manitoba and they work well.
There are many ways you can go for hopping up your sled. You can go with pipe mods, cans (bmps weigh in at 6.5lbs and are almost as quiet as stock), clutching, track, traction, fuel reducers, timing keys, big wheel kits, light weight parts etc.

If you got the money, there is no end to the parts!

I would suggest riding it first, then decide if you want to hop it up some. If so, then you will know which area to concentrate on.

Good luck and happy riding!
