Need some advice! My '99 HO 670 runs fine for awhile, maybe 1 hr., maybe 4 hours, maybe 8 hours, then all of a sudden it wants to die like I hit the kill switch til I let off the throttle. It will sit and idle no problem, but when throttle is applied, I get the "dun dun dun" like the wrong key cap is on or no cap at all. I get no flashing red lite on the dash when it is acting up. Let the sled sit for awhile, sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes 4 hours, and it might fire up and run the rest of the day. Sometimes it will all of a sudden kick in and run fine when it is acting up, only to do it all over again. I never know.

I have changed plugs, the DESS key cap, spark plug caps. Made no difference. There is 7500 miles on the sled, and did a rebuild on it the beginning of last winter. It acted up my last ride of the season.

Anyone have a clue as to where I need to look before I start dumping money into replacing parts that I don't really need???

Intermitent electrical problems can be a real pain. I would check & double check all connections & grounds. My first thought was the plug caps but you say you have replaced them allready. Good luck.

Look for wire "rub through" at the electrical harness which exits the motor and passes over the bulkhead near the pull starter housing. If wires are bare and water gets on them the DESS starts to act up. The area near the engine ID tag is known for harness abrasions too.

Thanks. Will take a closer look and double check everything. :bash:
