I read of a few fella's doing it in the past. Was pretty simple and worked out well.

I did a swap on my doo and it was just a matter of transfereing the measurements over, checking once and then drilling twice doh!

I'd try a search and see what turns up.

I think actually if I remember correctly Michahicks had done one as well as commented on others doing the same thing. I'd look under his posts.

I've done 3 Gen II/Edge conversions, and have 2 seasons/3000 miles on a GenII XCR with a stretched (136") Edge conversion. It's primary use is as a performance cruiser. Recomend the conversion highly. Others done were an '00 XC7 and an '00 SKS, (also a stretched Edge) also a 700, and one of my all time favorite machines.

Can you just switch the rails, or do you have to swap the whole skid out?

Entire skid/suspension is swapped. Xtra is similar, but not close enough. No parts interchangability. Reinforcment plates at all 4 suspension attach points need to be moved forward and reattached. It's not that hard for anyone handy with tools, and well worth the effort.
