finally got some time to start my winter prep on my sled. i started by taking the primary clutch off, and besides a good cleaning shouldnt have to relace to many parts. then when i went to take the sec clutch off i realized i had forgotten to coat the shaft last fall with grease :bash: :bash: :bash: and it wont move. how do u guys takle this situation. i ussually use a 2 x 4 and with various angles of prying and hitting with a small sludge, it ussually works its way off.

Your dealer should have a Driven "pulley puller" may let you borrow if you smile real big :D (or buy it) this thing makes life a hole lot easer. I found that prying and pounding tends to mess up the movable sheaves. Other wise have you tried heat?

lay it on its side,,,, put some wd40 in it and let it sit for about 10 minutes,,, repeat this a couple of times then lay it back down and pop it with the rubber mallet,,, should pop right off,,,,
good luck

I've never lubed mine and have never had it stick like that before. Do you store it outside or what? Never heard of such a thing from just being stored over one summer.

I do not lube mine either, plus my dealer states not to do it.....All you need to do is sand it down a little bit with fine grit sandpaper when you do get it off and you should be fine next time around.

Guess I've always just been lucky. Now I'm going to have to start lubin it over the summer or murphy's law says next fall mine will be welded in place...lol

You have been extremely lucky, unless you take it apart very often. I usually go about 1500 miles between take offs. And sometimes even with the neversieze it's stilll a little stuck.

Usually several times throughout the winter and once, twice tops over the summer to get rid of and prevent any rust. I just use Acetone though, which is far from any sort of lube.
i store my sled inside. i have my sec clutch off at least once a week during riding season, but never off through teh summer. my sled is stored away from home. its funny because my bro, has an fcat and he never has this problem. also on my fathers scat and moms scat they never have that problem. must be a curse some guy on a polaris gave me after i waxed his big 800 LOL. JK )P if it is....... i 'll live with it.
