Hey everyone i have a 1979 arctic cat eltigre 6000 440 liquid cool and i was curious if ne one else has ever owned one... :bash:
And if you have any suggestions on fixing the suspension, see mine really has no suspension and my back really hurts after riding all winter,
Also if ne one can tell me how long/far it should take to break in my sled i just got it rebuilt. Also if ne one has had a snowmachine like mine i would love to know if there has been ne problems with it,
And possibly how many km until a rebuild was required. see my machines odometer stopped working at 5,000 km a long time ago and the piston on the PTO side just went last year and i had to rebuild it so, i know its roughly over 6,000 km but i drove it way more then 1,000 in the time the odometer broke to when the piston went, plus the cool thing or crazy cool thing is that the pistons i took out last year are the original pistons actually the origianlly everything inside the enigne itself and everything else is in good condition, so i'm also wondering if my piston went are other parts going to start breaking.
I know theres a lot of questions i'm asking but a suggestion or answer to any of theses would be great.

Wow, that is a $hitload of miles on that old tiger....

Check all the bearings in the drivetrain/suspension...

i'd check intake boots for cracks. specialy on cyl. that piston went bad in. have seen a few older sleds with newer style suspensions. make a topic specfic to installing a upgraded suspension in older sleds.

I have owned the older sleds also and there simply is no comparison to the suspensions of todays sleds. I spent a lot of time and money on an old 79 trailfire to make it ride like the newer ones and it simply would not happen. Maybe swapping out an entire suspension from a new sled would help, but it will not be the same. The technology that was used in the late 70's and early 80's in nothing like it is today,,,,
