I just sold my 04 600 sdi. It's time to start shopping for a new one and I've been doing alot of research and for the little extra $$$, I think I'd like to step up to the 800 Power TEK. All the dealers I've been into are telling me that the difference in fuel mileage isnt that much especially when you are really rippin.
I'd like some feedback from people that actually own one, not some dealers sales pitch  .
What MPG and fuel range can I expect ,aggressive and casual trail riding with the 800 Power Tek?.
All feedback is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

As far as MPG goes, Ski-Doo claims 20 mpg with the Ptek. Ofcourse, that is very controlled and being very light on the throttle. Real world is probably 15-17 mpg (still exceptional for a carb'd 800cc tho)
The SDI is more fuel efficient. Ski-Doo claims more like 22 mpg (unrealistic) but you can expect more like 17-19 mpg.
From what I hear, when breaking trail, lake riding, etc. the 800 is alittle better on fuel, versus the 600 that may be better on <70mph trail riding.

Thanks Droptop. My 600 sdi would get a best of 20mpg (imperial gallons) when just taking it easy. Averaged 18-19mpg even when riding hard though. Great on oil too. If an 800 will get around 16-17mpg, I would definately go that route for sure. I am looking at the 2006 GSX 800 Limited.

Just posted basically the same topic a week or so ago, you may want to search and have a look. Unfortunately I don't know how to set up a link.
BRP's claim of 20mpg caught my eye, think the jury's still out.

Yes Cory, but what I was really fishing for was what kind of range (miles per tank) people were experiencing from an 800 Power Tek. I was getting between 230km and 250km to a tank on my 600 sdi. Dealers are telling me 210km to a tank on the P-tek is not a problem when trail cruising at 60-80km/hr. I just was hoping to get some feedback from owners that might back up the dealers claim.

I hear yeah, nothing like real life experience. The dealers will say anything you want to hear to make the sale. The range of your SDI is very impressive, my 02 600 Legend has a tough time making 150km per tank.

Here's what i know....when riding up too the Abitibi Canyon last March......Me and my brother both riding 600 sdi's 04 gades....fueled up right behind too guy's riding mxz's 800 power teks, and they put in 2 bucks less then we did....gas at 1.69 per litre....this is up in fraserdale....were gas is alway's expensive...so the power teks out did the sdi's....and i've tracked my milage...and the best i've got was 19mpg...(imperial)
