Google Earth puts a planet's worth of imagery and other geographic information right on your desktop. You can zoom in on any part of the world.

Free version
Free Google Earth program (http://earth.google.com/)

I found it great for showing others GPS tracks of my previous rides. If you are running GE load the attached file and view some trails I rode at Lake of the Woods. You can zoom in, pan and tilt the map.

Very Nice.

Ive noticed that you can actually see some of the trails very clear. I was following the Raco Rail Grade in Strongs, MI in the UP on there the other day. I read that you can download waypoints and tracks to GE but it wont work the other way. True?

Yes...you can only upload to GE and to do that you have to upgrade to GE Plus. So far I really like this program.

why do some areas come up very blury when you zoom in?
Does this improve when you pay for the program?

No...paying does not change image quality. GE say they are continually upgrading satellite photo's to higher resolution.

Check their site for additional information.

Pretty cool (but scary) tool. Too bad the photos are from earlier this year. Would be neat if it was live!!!! :undercover:

That's a sweet program. When I first found it, I spent hours looking at all sorts of places. I felt like a little kid!

Same here when Google Maps came online... in fact there were/are many websites with links to "interesting places" as seen in their satellite photos.

As an example:

Argonne National Labs... I was actually there in October.

I have been playing with this google earth program also. Very cool. I have loaded most of my tracks and waypoints on it. Here is the file if any one is interested.[attachmentid=24352]
