I think the reply depends on what kind of riding you expect to do wih it.

Ive got one in my driveway right now that I am rebuilding for a buddy and I owned a 79 at one time. It is fairly reliable if it has been and will continue to be taken care of. You need to remember, its not a new one and your bound to have some issues,,,, springs, shocks, hyfax, wear bars are examples,,,, they do wear out over time.
I am doing nothing more than replacing the fuel filter, fuel line, chain case oil, and wear bars on this one and it should be ready to go. He also had an older liquifire that needs the rear suspension springs replaced,,,, I rebuilt it for him last year. We have a dealer down here that has a lot of older parts,,, he got me all NEW clutch springs and weights for this sled last year. Still in the original JD boxes. I also had to put a stator in that one. He ran everywhere I did last year on my firecat,,, had just as much fun as I did,,,, didnt get there quite as fast, LOL, but the point is, he has AS MUCH FUN as I did,,,, youll enjoy your new toy.
