I have an old yamaha ss440 that I got for free from a friend and I was able to get it running but the single carb floods while it's at idle. Everything is completely stock on it from the looks of it. When it's running it's one fast little machine, but the flooding problem is killing me. I've taken the carb off several times and have free up the stuck choke, replaced the float bowl and blown all passages out good with compressed air. Not sure the machine is worth paying someone $70/hr to fix it.

Thanks

I would check the needle and seat. You might be able to just replace that and be good to go. If that isn't the problem, I would double check that the carb is actually closing all the way when you let off the throttle. Might just need to be adjusted.
