I hear alot of good reports about the pro x. I don't have one personally but I had the 05 xc 700. As far as the engine is concerned it rocks so I would say go for it. Suppose to be a good ditchbanger.

Might help to know what you are looking for in a new machine, but if it were me, and I had that kind of a budget, that machine would be in my garage.......

I have a 2004 Pro x 700 and would buy another one in a second. It is basically the same sled as the 2003 but with a different paint job.
I know the sled looks like the edge but it is a totally different chassis and handles way better...I know because I traded from the edge to the pro x.

The Pro X rides better the harder you push it and is an excellent trail machine and ditch banger.
The risers on the handle bars allow you to ride forward (aggressive) or sit back and cruise.

I know a lot of people were dissapointed when Polaris discontinued the sled back after 2004.

This sled also has a better resale value than the Edge cause there are not nearly as many.

Hope this helps.

My buddy has the '03 Pro-X 700, it is a great sled especially if you ride hard. The 700 rips as well. He has done some clutching and puts a hurting on the 800's in the drags. I would say go for it. Only problem he has had was the drive shaft bearing went, but for as hard as it gets ridden I'd say thats not too bad.

Thanks guys .. I actually have a friend with a new Yamaha Apex. I made a little bet with a friend of mine that I could keep up with him for about half the money this year(normally I blow way too much on new crap and it doesn't out perform by much). So I have this other buddy who bought four of the 2003 pro x models and left one in the box because his wife won't ride it .. So here I am .. I've heard that they detuned the 2003 because the 2002 was beating 800's. and there it is .. the rest of the story...... I do want a new sled but I want a sled that is a year or two old .. It has to be reletively close to the half way mark of 11000 dollars ...I think up to 7500 would be ok .... your thoughts please.

Apex is cool, but heavy. Kinda like a big tripple. They're lake sleds. Not a good place to take them on with a 700. In the woods and big bumps though, it would likely be a different story. That's where the Pro sleds are in their own. Slp single will take care of any power problems you may encounter.

I know the 2004 Pro x 700 was a little slower top end than 2002 - 700 edge, but I prefer the better bottom end and mid range that it has.
When you think about how much time do you spend riding over 100 mph.
$7500 US might be a little rich, you can buy used 2004 for $6800 Canadian ($5500 US)

I have a 2003 pro-x 700 that now has over 4000 trouble free miles, without a doubt the best sled I have ever had.have since also bought a REV because polaris stopped making the pro-x but if they still made them I would trade my rev for one in a second. If I could find a new 700 03 or 04 pro-x left over I would love to trade my rev for one.I like the pro-x that much.don't get me wrong I also really like my REV but was a polaris guy for a lot of years and still have a soft spot for them!

Pro-Xs rock. My brother has an '03 700 Pro-X (its actually Polaris9500's old sled, small world) and its great.
Its got a completely different feel than does the XC.
The Pro-X is built to take all the abuse that you can dish out.
On the lake they arent that fast. Stock they are only good for about 100 mph, but they were never really designed for flat-out running on the lake.

Put some time in the clutching and the pro x will beat almost all sleds from corner to corner.

We just picked up an 03 Pro-X 800 last week. I've heard nothing but good things about it and a buddy of mine just about fainted when i pulled the cover off it the other day.

I heard of them doing a 1/4-mile in the mid-13s, can anyone confirm that or set me straight?
