2003.5 Blair Morgan 800 rev.
OK heres the deal- last year last time out the recoil exploded inside while I was driving it.
I drove it for 1 hour after this to get home( rattling the whole time).
this year buy a new recoil assembly and install it and clean all the plastic confeddy out of the engine.
Everything works fine-then last week I started it and all power accessories are out-
no gauges work(I have fuel and temp also)
-no lights work(head, tail&brake)
-I'm pretty sure the warmers don't work as well.
But the engine runs fine and the reverse works.
Last night I checked the fuses both ok with no power going to them.
so I thought the stator must be screwed from all that crap flying around in there.
when I pulled the magnetic hub off that covers the stator ther is still more crap in thier and realize the crank seal is screwed also.
-rip the motor out, split the case and take the stator out and go to the dealer WOW!!!!
$500+ dollars for a stator, so the service guy takes the old one and checks it and says its fine(within resistance spec). Now I'm waiting on a crank seal to reassemble it and still don't know what my problem is.
Voltage regulator
I will paypal $20 us dollars to the person who tells me what the problem is.
Any ideas are helpfull

Check the 20 amp fuse under the console. It feeds the gauges and bar warmers.

Are the bulbs blown or still good???? I have seen it where 1 bulb will go and then it over loads and all bulbs eventually blow. Let me know? Could be regulator also if bulbs are gone.

Is their a short in a wire after the stator? Or even a bad ground?
Just ideas
Thanks

fuses are good-no power even getting to the fuses.
to test the resistance off the stator he did it at the plug which goes on the regulater so I would say the wires are fine.
It can't be bulbs as everything is out and not functioning.
The reason I thought it was the stator is because of the recoil explosion but after I put the new recoil on everything still worked fine for the next few starts then this problem arose, thats when I went back in and pulled the hub off and found more crap in there and thought it was the stator which I'm not completly convinced it's ok.
Anybody know how to test one???

Same thing happened to my 800. Recoil grenaded taking out the stator and trigger. Mine was easy to diagnose as everything was destroyed.

I would just like to get this one tested professionally before I spend $550.
Does anybody know anyone who can test a stator??
Any body got a blown 800 lying around with a stator in it?

how does one tell if the crank seal is gone also? This is the problem that i had with my sled and i am now trouble shooting the stator problem, is it dead or not, maybe it was just all the metal pieces causing the problems. but i do not know how to tell if the seal is still good?? is this just a visual inspection for the black sealer between the case ends?

I'll put money on it that it's a relay....I've seen it happen to a REV before. I believe it's located up underneath the console. I'm not 100% sure what it looks like, but it a common realy that can be had a your local auto parts store, so don't bother going to the dealer to get one, unless you have to. Sorry I can describe it better, but look around underneath the console...I think there is only one of them.
Hope this helps.
*EDIT*
Ok, I found a description for ya....
There is a small, approx 1 in cube shaped relay, alongside the left support above the engine, it should have about 4 or 5 prongs on it...depending on the model year.
Let us know if this is it.... :undercover:
*EDIT* *EDIT*
Wow...just noticed this was an OLD thread...I'm assuming you've already found a fix?

The relay they are talking about are at Princess Auto for $4.95. I paid $37.95 last year at the do dealer.
I don't beleixe that is the problem though. Hope it is for your sake.
Let me know what it is.

I just had the same thing happen, relay at Princess Auto was $3.31, item # 8047801. No tab, looks a little different but works 100%

Same thing happened to mine and it was the relay. It is mounted inside the center hood cover on the frame rail on the clutch side. Didn't know you could get them at the autoparts though.

Try looking under the fuse box, and look at your wires. I did on mine before storage and found some wires chaffed from the mounting bracket. I cut a piece of rubber and glued it where the wires made contact with the bracket and taped the chaffed wires, Had no problems since. Good Luck. Let me know if this was any help.
