Just curious,
I usually use a spray carb cleaner. Is there some carb cleaners that should not be used on snowmobile carbs. Just like when using gas antifreeze with isopropynal is recommended vs the methenal.
Thanks.

Most are good for "bench cleaning" the carbs. Never spray or add to the fuel any cleaners as most sleds have plastic components in the fuel system which some chemicals aren't friendly with. Most spray type carb cleaner sprayed into a running motor washes the oil off critcal engine parts and accelerates wear.

I'm with the doc.
good on bench, bad in sled. I actually prefer acetone on the bench, but you have to be a little careful with it, as its quite flammable.

I use a brake cleaner. Works alot better, won't "hurt" the carbs like the carb "crap" will and usually cost a lot less.

I agree with all of the above statements, and also wanted to add that it is NEVER really safe to use a "spray while running" type of product to clean the inside of the carb. There are some automotive products that you spray into a carb while the engine is running which is supposed to "clean out the carb". Well.....it doesn't. The only proper way to clean the "glazing" out of a carb is to soak it for a short period, wipe it out, then take the air to it.
Don't forget.....always keep the carb level while dissassembling it.

Thanks,
I should have specified for bench cleaning. What is recommended for cleaning the TRA clutch, on the bench. Brake cleaner, isopropynal alcohol, acetone?
Thanks in advance.

Hot soapy water gets all the crap out and is cheaper than chemicals.

The best thing I have ever used to clean parts with is motomaster tool cleaner. I use brake cleaner too but it smells much stonger than tool cleaner and the results arent as good.
