Well SHD.......Logic would tell you its somewhere near whitefish point.BUT BUT BUT.. he stated he draged his butt out of his cabin and into the cold... That could mean he went to Alaska after getting out...LOL.. I think maybe these two are realling trying to trick us here... :lookaround: Maybe Not........Maybe I'm just losing my mind altogether...

I'm not sure where this is, but knowing sludgemagnet, he doesn't stray too far from the cabin...so it's gotta be in the Paradise area. :undercover:

He put many a miles on a few years ago. He was up in the 200's daily back in 95-98 or so and that is when he carried a camera.

Hint: A boatman named Crisp DID NOT work here but might have hiked to Halfway House.

thats all the help I give you Fellas ( and Girls ) that don't often get off the fancy schmantsy cleverly signed snow trails.

I agree with Matt it is Vermilion Point. That is an old picture, it has changed quite a bit since then.

Who knows what Vermilion point was used for and who owns it today?

Looks like SkidooMatt needs to search the archives again. Stay tuned for sludgemagnets story to follow soon and 700rocket I have no idea.

Matt - send me or Corey a copy of the next photo so we can link it up to the home page. Post the new topic though as soon as you are ready. We will load it soon after.

Ok - here goes da story:
Crisp Point = was once quite a large complex AND was named for a surfman/boatman named Crisp. Down the beach about halfway to Vermillion is a pile of bricks. These scattered bricks are the remnants of a small structure called Ironically enough Halfway House. Another ~ three miles down the coast will be Vermillion Life Saving Station. Story goes that is now owned by multimillionaire that renovated the structures. Michigan State University along with Audobon Society have created a Piping Plover Sancutary. These birds are endangered and this is one of the few remaining places that they nest. NOW back to the GUTS of the story.
Back in the days that both Crisp Point and Vermillion were operating each had the responsibilty to search for ships in distress. For sake of saving manhours the task of walking the beach was split between the 2 stations. Each morning at an appointed time a man would leave his respective station and each would meet at Halfway House. Supervisors being suspicious that the men would not complete the walk came up with a novel solution. When the man from Vermillion left he took with him a medal/medallion that he would pass off to the Crisp Point individual. When the medal arrived back at Crisp Point the mission was confirmed completed. There is a restored Life Saving Station at Glen Haven which will give you gentle readers an idea what it was like at a Life Saving Station, which later became the Coast Guard.
