Please, somebody help! I own a wildcat 700[don't laugh] with carbs. I'm having a no spark condition. I've bypassed the carb sensors and the key switch and still no spark. Every now and then it will have a faint spark. Are there any simple tests I can do? I really don't want to sink alot of green in it. Any response would be appreciated, Thanks Todd

qqwash, Thanks for the reply, it is a 92. I should add that last year at the end of the season it was acting kind of strange. It wouldn't accelerate to wot smoothly, it's hard to explain kinda like something was going bad then. Know this winter it won't run at all.

my money would be on the stator also,,, if its the cdi, there would be no spark at all,,, with the cdi, its either good or bad. does it have one coil or two?? if it has two, I cant see both taking a dive at the same time but anything is possible.

also wonder if your ground at your stator isnt making a good connection. that would be the best place to take a quick look. You can also unhook your 4 prong connector coming out of your stator and try turning it over that way. This will bypass all your safties.

puree, thanks for the advice. I will unplug it tonight and see what that does. By the way it has only one coil. Is there an ohms test to do on the stator. someone on here is offering to sell a used one but I would like to know if its possible to test the old one first. Don't want to end up with two bad ones! Thanks Todd p.s. where in Ohio are you located I'm over here west of Akron about 20 miles.

I live outside of Findlay,,, I have a good buddy that lives up in Medina and I am planning on taking a couple sled up there this winter and riding with him for a couple days.
Yes there is a reading you should get when you test your stator, but I honestly do not have a book that tells me what yours would be,,,,

Anybody out there have a manual with his readings for testing the stator?? If we get no replies, you may have to get a manual from the dealership or ebay,,,, it should have all the info you need.

In order to check the trigger coil you will need too:

Disconnect the CDI triple wire plug to the magneto

Set your meter to the X10 ohms scale

Connect one side of meter to the black/red wire
Connect the other side of the meter to the red/white wire
Trigger coil resistance must be 17 ohms+- 20% (14-21 ohms is ok)

Charge coil is checked on the same plug but you will hook the meter up to the red/white wire and black/white lead. With this combination the meter should be in the X100 range with final reading of 160.0 ohms +- 20% (130-190 ohms reading is OK

700 Rocket thanks for the specs that is just what I was looking for. Ihad to work late tonight so I will start on it in the morning. I'll post back with my findings. Thanks again. puree, funny you should mention Medina as I'm about 10 miles down the road. When I get this thing going maybe we'll hook up somewhere, take it easy,Todd

that would be kewl,,, I tried calling Blake today to see when we could set something up. I know he is coming this way soon as we have a sort of reunion dinner we are going to. When I end up heading that way, I will try to get in touch with you.
good luck on the sled, let us know how it turns out.

700 Rocket, Sorry for the delay, I tested it this morning. On what you called the trigger coil I got a 16.5 reading and on the charge side I could not get any reading. I assume that would be my problem. I'm going to check a few of the local shops in my area for a used stator, if I can't find one I'll buy yours, I'll post back Thanks again, Todd
