does anyone out there know how to remove the primary nozzle on a phazer 485 carb. it seems to be pressed in. do you pound it out from the bowl side or thru the other way.i can"t get it to budge. will it be ruined on removal . any input appreciated.

Do you mean the Main Jet?

Your sled has 2 Mikuni B38-32 Carbs in it. Changing the main jets is done as follows, as per the owner's manual.....
1- Remove the air chamber
2- Loosen the carburetor clamps and remove the carburetor.
3- Pinch the fuel hose to prevent fuel flowing.
4- Remove the drain plug and install the proper main jet.
5- Assemble by reversing removal steps.

Basically, take out the large bolt on the bottom of the carburetor. Also, remember this......if you strip ANY of the threads on a carburetor it will leak forever, and cannot be fixed.....so take your time and be careful.
Here's a link to an owner's manual for a 98 Phazer, but the engine is the same.

Ok....here's a pic of a twin carb setup. Is what I've circled what you're trying to change? I believe the dealer is just suggesting you change your Main Jets. I've pointed out the bolts to remove. The Jets come out with the bolts. And don't forget......NEVER turn the carb upside down....if you do....you'll throw your floats off and you'll have to do a complete rebuild......MAJOR HEADACHE

what you circled is the nozzles they suggest changing. the original ones have one small hole in them part no. 8ol 14489-00-00 is suppose to have 2 holes and helps on mid-range lean conditions, at least that's what he is telling me . thanx
