I am the assistant manager at a Murphy USA gas station in Hibbing MN, and our store manager got sent up to your Murphy to train a new manager. She said it snowed like a ####### there! LOL! And she hates snow. She said if someone has to go back there next week, she is sending me!

I really have to agree with Keith. Right now we only have 6 rooms booked at the hotel (and I have 3 of them myself),,,, I called the hotel and they have extended the deadline until the 30th of December.

Ask anyone that went to last years ride. We had a GREAT time. I know I met many friends, had a blast on the trails and enjoyed the nightlife just getting to know others. Honestly,,, if you miss out on this trip, you will regret it. Take a look at the video from last years trip. There are some great prizes, and a great charity that we are helping out here.

After you attend your first snowmobileworld ride,,,, you will never miss another one!!!

Hope to see you there.

Flyin-lowe and myself have collett communicators on order that we are still waiting on to come in... I know they will program in club frequencies for you if you request. My question is... Is there a club channel for the SW Annual ride that we should know about?

I am pretty sure that when I ordered the communicators the lady said they only do the club channel if you order 6 or more sets. Also you have to send some type of letter on letterhead showing you are a member of the club and that you have permission to use their channel. So I think we will just have the "standard" channel

puree

we do not have any club channel that I know of,,, most of us who rode last year did not have communicators. I would love to get some, but I end up riding with enough different people through the year that I may only ride with someone one time each year who had another one,,,, Unless I could talk Jeff into getting one!!!

There is no club channel. There will be at least 10 of us there with communicators, but we use the HJC units.

If your in, I would be willing to foot the bill on my end. Then you know your dad would get one also!!!
I figure that with the communicators, I could make sure you dont get ahead of me and make a wrong turn and end up over the hills and through the swamp, straight to Curtis you go!!! We could ALL get to the hotdog stand at the same time this way :lmao: :lmao:

Ahhhh the HOTDOG stand!!! That bring's a very funny story to mind....

Myself, JasonF and RenegadeMike were UP there riding on a ride a couple years ago ans we got to the hotdog stand pretty early that day.....we were the only one's there. was feeling a little spunky from the quick run we had just made coming from Seney I believe. When pulling into the parking area there I pulled the Cat up on one sky let out a rather load and agressive BRAAAAAAAAAAAPP!!!!!! The can side of the sled was in the air so it was pretty impressive........ Anyway.....when stickman(RenegadeMike) walked up to get his morning chocolate the caretaker there told him to tell his budy(me) that he's an A--hole!!!! Well we got a pretty good laugh out of it at the time but I am alittle more careful not to BRAAAAAAAPP at the hotdog stand anymore. I'm sure one of these days I'll walk up to the stand to get a hot chocolate or something and I'll get the question....."Aren't yo the A--hole that BRAAAAAPPED me a couple years ago?"

Good times!!!!!

Looks like Catmanchree and I are 99.9% to be there. I have to check at work as I am going to be in FL the week before so I will be taking two weeks in a row off. Shouldn't be a problem. We will be making our reservations on Monday

LOOKS LIKE BROCKWAY MOUNTAIN TO ME.
IF SO-BEEN THERE TWICE.
ONE NIGHT ON THE 80 PROX MILE RUN BACK TO HOUGHTON,WE CROSSED THAT MOUNTAIN AT DUSK WITH 50 MPH WINDS.WE HAD TO KEEP LEANING AND TURNING INTO THE WIND TO KEEP FROM BEING BLOWN OVER THE EDGE OF THE MOUNTAIN.
I REALLY LIKED THE SHACKS WITH THE SLED LOGO'S ON TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN.
LOOKS LIKE COPPER HARBOR TO THE BOSS.

Sorry Boss, not Brockway Mtn. but rather just a large hill or Mountain I guess just outside of Calumet.
I know what you mean about Brockway and the winds. Last season RenegadeMike and I where coming down the mountain towards Copper Harbor and the wind was blowing straight up the side of the dropoff. The snow was actually going up instead of falling to the ground creating some mamoth drifts right along the edge. Needless to say we where the only ones right there busting through every one.

Would love to make one of these UP rides as I feel I've gotten to know the area pretty well. Unfortunately, those dates do not work for me this year. I will likely be up there the first whole week in Feb though, and again in March. I'll make a promise to you now that if we have another UP ride next year, I'll be there for sure. Can't wait to ride with you guys!

Jim, it is a great ride. I went last year and this is now my premier ride EVERY year. If I only get to make one trip, this is the one.
Not sure what next year will bring, but I would assume that some dates and locations may come up fairly soon. Wish you could make this one,,,

Idooski you gotta stop posting stuff about this ride.

1. I am spending to much time looking around at all the info.

2. My heart can't take this. I am an old man and am already so excited it is hard to go to bed. This is not helthy!

This is all in fun as I am loving all of the info and pictures. I can't wait. I know what is going to happen, I am going to wish away these next few weeks and BLAMO it will be here and that is cool. But then it is going to go way way way to fast.

3 weeks peeps!!!!!

Since there isn't much snow anywhere else RenegadeMike and I are packing it up right now and heading to the Key in the morning for a little warmup ride. Nothing like trying to get last minute reservations in a place that has the only good snow in the State :bash: , so far we have the last room at the Ramada but will keep looking for something cheaper.

Anybody on here from the Houghton area or keeping dibs on the trail conditions. I checked a few and they are saying very poor conditions. However ten day forecast from the weather channel showed snow every day. I am not familiar with there weather paterns. Is anyone concerned on how the snow conditions will be for the ride. I know the weather here in IN has been nuts for this time year. 54 degrees two days ago. The SW ride is likely going to be my first good ride of the year and for those of us who havent got to really ride yet this year we are chompin at the bit. Just needing somebody to put me at ease and tell me that Houghton will likely get dumped on between now and then and the trails will be great.

I wouldnt worry about the conditions for the ride,,, there will be plenty of snow and we have some locals working on leading some of the groups so we will have some off trail experiance and lots of snow to play in,,,
trust me, everything will be fine,,, cant wait to get up there and play in the white gold

All of our group uses the HJC GMRS units. Much more versitile than the Collet Communicators IMHO.

Just got back myself and its primo conditions right now. Got there Thursday and most areas north of Houghton had 2+ feet of snow on the ground. We had white out conditions all day riding on Friday which added 1+ foot of fresh snow. Some of the best and hardest offtrail riding I've done in a long time. Will post some pics later. Plus it only gets better from here on out  :inlove:

I talked to the hotel today,,, we have 9 rooms booked. They have dropped the total number of rooms on hold to 20 and have extended the date until the 9th,,,,, we need to get these rooms filled quick. Dont get stuck staying at another hotel because this one is full.
It will be a great time,,, whats holding you back???
Will see a bunch of you there,,, Brian
