: Snowmobile Auctions
willysmooo 12-14-2005, 07:54 PM Just wanted to let you all know (im sure lots already do) about snowmobile auctions that take place in Bronson Michigan once a month. My friend showed me 2 sleds he bought from last months auction. He purchased an 04 artic cat, and an 03 yammie for 4600.00 for both of them. These sleds are both MINT with low low miles...so i went to the website and checked it out...they have HUNDREDS of sleds and the prices you can fetch them for is UNREAL. Im goona head down on Jan 7th. So if you are in the indiana, michigan, ohio, penn, ill...etc. and in need of a sled go check this place out. I personally havent been, but I checked out the inventory and these deals are GREAT!!!! The auction is White Star Auctions. the website is http://www.snowmobileauction.com/price_reports/dec.htm Sorry if this has been posted in the wrong place or already known. I apoligize.
CORY9 12-14-2005, 08:38 PM Just curious, how do you know the sleds you are bidding on have clear, lien free titles? Does the auction house run a check?
puree 12-15-2005, 02:32 AM yep,,, checks are ran on the sleds,, you have to have title to sell them. I have bought a couple of sleds through whitestar but it is definetly BUYER BEWARE. You really need to take a compression tester, a pad of paper and a couple of pens and a good buddy with you. You need to take notes on the different sleds that your interested in. It also doesnt hurt to have a copy of the last auction price report with you so you have an idea of what the sleds you are looking at will bring.
Just make sure you look them over good, because once the auctioneer says SOLD,,, its yours and its AS IS.
OneSki 12-15-2005, 07:31 AM Yea you really got to look good as puree said...I've seen some sleds go for stupid money in december also...snow is on the ground and people get crazy...and I completly understand! w00t

flyin-lowe 12-15-2005, 09:00 AM I am going to search but I think I remeber a thread this summer with a lot of people saying to beware of this place. A lot of lemons and newer sleds with a million miles on them. Not sure though.
idooski 12-15-2005, 10:33 AM I have bought several sleds there over the years. You just need to know what you are doing. It is not for a novice sledder. You can get ripped if you don't know what to look for. I don't believe that this is a reflection on the auction house at all. There is no way that they can check everything out that comes thru there.
willysmooo 12-15-2005, 11:30 AM exactly...not every sled is gonna be a great deal. And YES you gotta know what you are doing....they allow you to bring a compression tester...and look over the sleds and start them etc. But like someone said above some of these people just need to get rid of them...and there are some tremendous DEALS there!!!! And if you dont know what your doing, bring someone that does.
puree 12-15-2005, 11:32 AM another thing to add,,,, if you are mechanically inclined and know how to fix sleds yourself, you stand to get some pretty good deals. There are sleds up there that do not run and you have the time to look them over and you can find what is wrong with them while your there. When the sled comes through, and not many want to bid on it as it wont run, your set. You can get it for a pretty good price.
My thought is, if your going to sell there, sell them in November or December. If your going to buy, then get them in March or April.
Mikadoo 12-16-2005, 09:58 PM I have been there several times and have come to the conclusion that for the most part it is a last ditch effort to unload junk. Just be VERY VERY careful and take someone along that knows sleds.
Did I say VERY careful?
snowrash 12-16-2005, 11:46 PM just remember that the mileage shown is not always the "REAL" mileage.
Almost anyone with very little machanical skill can unplug a speedometer, which is probably the case with half of the 'LOW" mileage machines we see in the local trader, however I would take the chance with buying from a local dealer or seller in the area. even if it costs more. With what you save at the auction, you will pay in the end!
