My little Yam which I bought new is a great sled , but it gets infrequent use. Lately the throttle has been sticking at times. Is there a carb cleaner that i can use that might cleanup any varnish & crap while leaving the carb on the sled ? , i realize the best method would be to take the carb off dismandle it & blow out the jets but I was looking for a easier fix if there is one. The sled starts & idles fine. Thanks , Rick in Ottawa.

Pull the carb, clean it out properly, clean and lube the throttle cable (or simply replace the cable). Either the slide is sticking from varnishing of the slide bore, or the cable is rusty, gummed up or frayed and is sticking.
I would not try to clean it while still mounted on the sled, as all you will do is force that gunk into your motor. It isn't worth the risk for the amount of effort required to do the job properly by removing and cleaning the carb.

you can put some carb cleaner in your gas, but make sure you only burn about 1/8 tank like this.
Also, grease the throttle assembly where it rotates on the carborator, and spray WD-40 into the cable at the brake lever.

Carb cleaner run through in the gas is not a very good idea in a 2 stroke engine, it tends to wash the oil off the internal engine components and increases wear. it is best to clean the carb off the machine.
You should pull the slide out of the carb top before pushing lubrication through the cable, as this can push dirt out of the cable, into the carb, and once in the carb, it can work its way through your engine.
