When testing for full shift on the primary clutch how far (distance) should I travel at WOT to get an accurate result? 100yds, 500yds or 1/4mi ????

Full shift would mean absolute top speed, how far would it take to get there? How far up the primary the belt climbs is mainly a funtion of gearing and the engines ability to pull that gearing. Factory gearing is usually slightly tall so rarely would the belt reach the top.

Thanks hillpounder, I was doing some testing today of clutch comonent combos and decided to draw that line on the face of the primary. After a few runs out the yard(aprox 200yds) it would leave the last 3/4 to 1" of the line at the outer edge of the face. Sled ran strong at 8000 r's but I developed some heat in the secondary clutch that puzzles me. Time to do some more homework on secondary springs I guess.
