Do you have any comments why you like that jacket over the rest?

I use to have a HJC jacket. *The quality was terrible. *I have a Coldwave now. *I love it, it has a removeable fleece liner as well as a quilted liner. *So on colder days I wear the fleece liner and warmer days I wear the other. *Or you can wear it without a liner. http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif

I have a Reima snow cross jacket 3/4 length, Gortex with zip out thinsulate liner and built in, removable body armour. I love it and would not go sledding without it http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I've used Cat's Jackets for many years because of their versatility with the zip out liner. *The other makers are just starting to catch up on this feature. *Exellent quality, you can't wear them out! *I just purchased the Gortex Sno-Pro Jacket for 1/2 price @ Haydays. *Let it snow...

Gets a little stiff when its real cold out, but warm as ####, and makes me feel safe when I'm on the lakes.

http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/withstupid.gif (just kidding fish) Mustang Ice Rider, I only put the zipin liner when I'm going out when its -20C or colder, other wise its too warm. I agree it does get a little stiff but you do stay warm, and never close the vents under the arms.

My snowpants are fairly inexpensive yet they work very well. I purchased a set of "Boulder Gear" pants for skiing and decided to use them for snowmobiling when I found out that my weight gain had allowed my old pants to shrink. The Boulder Gear pants are reinforced in the knees and in the rear end. They have proven to be very well made and the seal around my Sorel boots is very good, Rarely have I gotten snow or moisture up under my pants. I wear An AC jacket and helmet to make sure i match my sled as well... hahaha. Equipment can be very important thats why it is $$$$

You should go to www.fxrracing.com. In my opinion the best sled clothing made. I used to live in White River, Ontario so I know how cold it can get. Fxr is very warm, very durable, and very protective. Expensive but well worth the money.

It's too bad Reima wasn't on the list. They probably make up a large portion of "Other"

Shaft, if a suit is good enough for northern Ontario, is would 'doo well pretty well anywhere else there is sledders.

the trick to keeping the apperal you wear looking new is wash them a couple times during the season and spray them with scotch guard when dry.

Revrnd it's actually alot colder up there than it is here, I ride in Vans and just an outer shell from start to finish of the season. It gets cold here but nothing compared to northern Ontario.

Castle Riser jacket for me. It has a pull out liner, lots of vents and tons of pockets for storage  . Unlike the Doo ones that I was using in the past, they had no vents and where very overpriced for the quality compared to the Castle one I'm using.

I had a $450 Reima jacket..Hated it !!!! The jacket is great for riding as long as you are moving around, as soon as you stop for any length of time I would get cold, it was no good for ice fishing..Now a lot of people say you have to have a good quality wicking suit underneath, why would I have to pay $450 dollars for a jacket and then have to buy something to wear underneath it ????I have owned cheaper suits in the past and did not get cold... I just bought a GKS suit seems to be decent quality..Time will tell...

I don't spend much time on groomed trails or out on the lake. I ride an antique phazer so I don't really care about how I look. I too have a Boondocker. I like it a lot, but I wish they made the neck a little larger diameter, and I wish it had more pockets. But it's definitely warmer than my Castle (same as HJC), which let a lot of wind through on cold days at high speed.

I used to wear just a plain black Columbia jacket and pants. Rode in -15F and it worked out fine for both. I had a pair of old leather mittens/ gloves that were about 30yrs old(they wore out finally). This year though I just got a brand new A/C Firecat 2in1 jacket and A/C Leather gloves. Got them off ebay. Can't tell you how good they are though as of yet, since we have not had any snow!!

But the way this winter is going, the next pic is mostly what I'll be wearing  It's made by Ocean Pacific, very comfortable, lets plenty of air in and even has an adjustabe string and inner lining for extra comfort and adjustability  ! Quite the head turner :hallo1: .

I have an HJC floater jacket with 4 vents. One on each side on the back, for two vents, and one under each armpit for two more. Typically, when the temperature is above -15*C I have the two on the back open. When the temperature is above -10*C I have all four vents open, when the temperature is above -5*C I have my entire jacket open. It is a very warm jacket. I might add: if you're going 90mph, close your jacket. It acts as a really nice parachute and will try to pull you off your sled. You won't believe how fast you can chill with the armpit vents open, especially if it is windy.

I would also like to add: if you're going to advertise a brand (such as that of your snowmobile) shouldn't they reimburse you? I mean, shouldn't those jackets be cheaper? My uncle pointed this out: why are you wearing a jacket that says "Polaris" written in huge letters over it? All you are doing is paying more just to advertise for them. He had a point. So when I bought the Fusion and it didn't match the colors, I decided I wanted a floater jacket anyway (I don't think Polaris even has one) and it cost 1/2 as much as a plain Polaris jacket that is half as good. Think about it, when a brand wants to get known, it PAYS celebrities to wear them. Why shouldn't we get paid to wear them? I'm tired of Polaris gear being sub-par with no-name brands, and costing twice as much.

I have the FXR Cold Cross Jacket for the trails, and the pullover for cross country racing.
I took the liner out of the jacket, so its basically a shell.
My pants are shells also, and when it was -15*F I got a little cold on the lake, but on the trail I was plenty warm.
I would have probably got cold on the lake no matter what I was wearing that day.

My new jacket this season is Coldwave. They have supercool stuff, in my opinion. This one is a bright bubblegum pink that fades out to white at the bottom and on the sleeves, it's shiny and embroidered and has a faux-fur collar. It's so pretty and girly, I can't NOT love it!

I continue to use last years suit too... Arctiva. Once again, mainly pink with black and white accents... Matching pants AND gloves too. When you put the whole thing on it's really hot. My pink Coldwave jacket doesn't have matching pants but if you wear black ones, it looks good. I LOVE LOVE LOVE pink though. Who says you can't be a lady on a sled? LOL. The coldwave jacket is actually quite a bit warmer though, just FYI.

We of course sell all of this stuff in our shop, plus WAAAAY more. I love that I can get my hands on all the upcoming seasons stuff before anyone else, too. But SHHHHH, that sounds catty and I'm NOT catty! ;) It's just a perk!

Then I bought a coldwave coat. This coat is more than warm enough for the climate I ride in, and thankfully it's got zippered vents all over so that I can cool off on warmer rides. My stuff is all black because nothing matched the molten orange of my ZL SS, but that's a good thing because now I have no need to go buy a bunch of new stuff to match my new sled. :)

Not totally on the subject, but wondering if anyone knows how well it works to waterproof your existing stuff with spray-on waterproofer. I am tired of having a wet butt and can't afford a set of new pants. Thanks for the input. Classic...

Do you have any comments why you like that jacket over the rest?[/b]
I wear a mustang survival suit when I go snowmobiling. I find to very warm head to toe and it is fully floatational just in case you fall though water. About $400 Candian but worth it.
