Has anyone had any problems with APV synthetic? The last couple times I cleaned my valves, it's a sticky oily job. I clean about every 500-1000 miles.
I just tore her down last night to freshen it up. I noticed that both rings stuck and the pistons started rubbing on the walls. Luckily the cylinders are ok but now I'm out $300 instead of $100 just for rings.
Thanks for the info.

You might want to read our old post about 800's and power valve clearance.
I'll see if I can find it again, and pull it to the top.
How many miles do you have. Is the scuffing near the exhaust port?
Found it and bumped it.

Yeah, I remember reading it. I haven't had that issue. The scuffing was around the exhaust port area, but I don't think it was a valve issue. The rings were stuck in big time, but I was able to pull them out. I think it was just sticky because of the oil.?????????

You sure, since you have that same scuffing, that the rings' weren't stuck because of a burr from hitting the power vavles?
Post a pic if you can.

I'm pretty sure that Robb's right, it always starts in the exhaust area towards the outter edges of the port. With your pison out and power valve in hand, hold it up to the piston (on the angle it mounts) and see if the marks line up.......my money's on they do.
