:( :bash: :withstupid: Just bought a 2000 Arctic Cat ZR 700. Needs a clutch and has a hole in the (welded in)
heat exchanger.
Anybody that is familiar with this issue and has a little advice please let me know. Mike
This is my 2nd sled. I should've done more research first.
Thanks for the help....

The clutch is rebuildable and the coolers can be replaced. What makes you think the cooler is welded in? If its the one in the tront of the tunnel, this one is riveted to the tunnel not welded.
I would bet a good welder could repair the cooler but you would have to remove the track and suspension.
A 700 clutch can be rebuilt once then I would replace it. The 700 motor is very hard on the weight bushings and spider. I get about 3000-3600 miles on a 700 clutch before I need to rebuild.
sorry, If it is the cooler in the FRONT of the tunnel it can be replaced.

Thanks for replying. As for the cooler it's the one in front of the track. I was told that the susp. would have to be removed to get to it. A dealer told me it was welded to the sub-frame. I hoping this is not going to cost me a million dollars. Thanks again for youe input. Mike :bash:

The cooler can be either welded or repaired using JB Weld.
As for the clutch, check it over carefully and see what it needs, new uncalibrated units can be had on ebay at a reasonable price or check out Browns Leisure World for one on special.

Your not in as bad as you think you are. Just as the guys above have mentioned, you can have your exchanger welded and it will be good as new. You do have to remove your suspension along with a couple of other parts, but it really isnt that hard to do. It honestly looks harder than it is.
As for the clutch,,, if the actual clutch is trash, dont be afraid to go to ebay and pick up a new uncalibrated one. They are going a little higher right now because of the time of year, but I have bought a couple off ebay with no problems. You can get any of the weights or springs for your clutch right at your dealer, or possibly even find them on ebay also. Check out the ebay stores, because a lot of guys have items like that in their stores, but they dont come up in a search if there are enough regular auctions out and running.
