Had some clutching problems,,, when I got home and dug in, found out it wasnt clucthing problems at all,,, the driven clutch would move about 2 inches in every direction. The part that once was a bearing is no longer a bearing. Its more like a little bit of metal and some washers.
Has anyone out there ever changed one. Do I have to pull the entire jackshaft out?? It appears that I dont, but I have a feeling I will be replacing the support plate also and this leaves a question also. It appears that I can take the entire aluminum piece off the side of the frame and it will be an easy job,,,,

Please let me know if you have ever did one so I know what I am looking at when the parts come in..... thanks in advance

Since the shaft was going that far sideways you would be well advised to replace the one at the other end as well.

Yes you will have to remove jackshaft as bearing is pressed on. You will need to press the new one on also, it can be ignorant, trust me. As ZR said replace the bearing in the chain case also or it will be sure to follow the clutch side.

I am replacing all 4 of them,,, no since in playing around since I am in that far. I also have to replace the brace that holds the bearing in as it got in and wallowed it out. It doesnt look like it got into the back plate support,,, I really hope it didnt, because I have to pull the seat, the gas tank, and the oil tank to swap it out.
Anyone know if the bottom one under the driven clutch can be removed from the outside, or am I pulling the suspension to get this one done??

what fun I am having,,,, at least it was rain that fell today and not snow,,,

In order to get the drive shaft out you will have to pull the track and suspension.

it honestly appears that you dont have to pull the suspension and all to get it out. I know you do on most sleds, but it appears that the actual bearing is mounted on the outside of the tunnel below.

Let us know how you do getting it out without removing the track and suspension.

The big part that is below the secondary on the drive shaft is the voltage regulator, not the bearing.

from the diagram on browns, it honestly looks like the voltage regulator comes off, then a plate, then the bearing,,,,, or am I doing to much wishful thinking.

Yes you can pull the regulator off and see the bearing but I don't think you will get it off the shaft. I thought you were going to replace all four bearings? I also think you have to pull the drive shaft to get the chain case bearing out.

I am replacing all 4. I pulled the chaincase cover last night and got the jackshaft out (man that was a pain in the tail!!) I am going to try to loosen the track and see if I can get some play in the driveshaft,,, if I do, the drive shaft should shift to the pto side and both bearings can be taken off,,,, man I really hope thats how it works,,, if not, I am prepared to pull those 4 screws and take the suspension out,,, I have done it before and will surely do it again.
I did notice that when I pulled the voltage regulator out, there was something that looked like snirt between the bearing and the frame. It was gritty,,, sandy maybe. The bearing looks good, no tears in it at all, but I would be absolutely stupid not to change it when I have it tore down this far. I will let you know if it can be changed without pulling the suspension,,, keep your fingers crossed here.
