Different part numbers... 3005-248 carb and 3005-080 is EFI
Travis,
I had a 99 Zr600 carb that had the stator go completely but there were warning signs. I had mine rebuilt by http://www.rmstator.com/index.php & they had it back to me within the week. I live in Sudbury On & they are in Quebec close to the Maine border. They guarantee work for 1 yr. If you can't find one this would be a good alternative to new & less than half the price.

I know when I converted my bro's ext to carbs the EFI stator was totally different. I don't think you can do it.

To the best of my knowledge, and I do have a pretty extensive electronics background, the EFI and carb versions of the 98-99 600 stator are not interchangable, sorry. The coil placement and resistance values (which relates to voltage and current output) are different.
P.S. I have replaced several carb and EFI stators in 98-2000 machines for myself and club members. I have had luck having carbed machine stators rebuilt, but I have never had an EFI rebuilt stator work, and I have tried several rebuilders (I have 3 of them on the shelf to prove that they do not work).
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, If someone can correct me, please do so.
