I have a 94 xlt triple, that has 115 lbs of compression in each cyl, It has spark, and I am getting gas but wont fire..Any suggestions as to why?

Too much fuel will put out the fire....

Are the plugs wet after pulling it through several times?

Bad Plugs? I had spark on mine once and the actual inside of the plug was dead. go figure.

If it is flooded (not uncommon with the XLT's) chances are the needle and seats need to be replaced. Me and several others have encountered this. If the plugs are soaked there are 3 crankcase drain screws below the exhaust. Remove these to drain the raw fuel out of the crankcase. With all plugs out turn the fuel off and hold the throttle wide open and pull it 10-20 times. Install new plugs (or at least burn the old ones off with a propane torch) and try again. Dont forget to turn the fuel back on after it starts. Needles and seats are cheap (dont go to a dealer though, they are 30 ea. aftermarket ones are <8 ea and have been fine for me over the years)

Good luck

Chris

Defective kill switch?

If the Machine had spark at the plugs, How could it possibly be a defective kill switch.

Are your plugs soaking wet? It sounds like your needles and seats are bad and the cases are loading up with fuel. Try pulling the case drains on the exhaust side of the engine and seeing if any fuel comes out. If it does, you can bet the needles and seats are bad. It is a fairly common problem on XLT's due to the needles wearing out and not sealing.

try to clean out the plugs with starting fluid, put a little in the spark plug holes, and then crank that up. Sounds like the cumbustion area is flooded.

Starting fluid is not a good thing for a 2 stroke engine due to the fact that there is no lube in it. When it runs out, the revs increase as it is running very lean, and running with no lube. Short term, it will likely still run, but will shorten the engine life over the long term.

A little dribble (teaspoon full) of premixed fuel down the plug holes is better, but if he is flooded, adding more fuel will not help clear it out, it will onyl make it worse. He needs to dry out the cases and combustion chamber, and get more air in to let it run.

my xlt had rattled all the nuts loose that hold the center section of the engine together causing it not to build any crankcase preassure to pulse the fuel pump... i got new nuts and started 3 pulls after, ( thats if you are not getting fuel to the carbs).. needles and seats could also be dirty that may not let them close fully

If it's got compression, spark, and fuel, it has to do something (unless it's flodded). Simply pull the plugs if they are black and wet, it's flodded. Clean the plugs with carb clean, hold the throttle W/O, and pull it over a dozen times to air out the cases. Put the plugs back in, still holding the throttle W/O, and PULL, and it should start to fart and cough, then it should start.
