My buddy has an 800 Rev with the beaver tail rear. He wanted to change the sliders but they are too wide to come out through the track. Is there some way to replace them without removing the skid? How does the skid come out? Not familiar with the Skidoo bever tail skid. TIA.

Those of us that leave the skid in, have to cut about 3/16" of each side of the window. Also before you install the new slider, use a chop or mitre saw to chamfer the ends. Unscrew the front screw holding the slider to the rail & carefully use a straight screwdriver or air chisel to push the slider out.

Rotate the track 1/2 a turn then do the other side.

Just take the skid out

It is not rocket science + you can better inspect the skid for damage

+ change all the bearings

Ski-doo has gone to a larger window track for that very reason I believe. Take out the skid, its four bolts and some cursing, no biggy. Get a manual.

Just did mine last night and took the skid out. I looked at going through the window but decided I didn't want to do any cutting. Took my approx an hour to take out and put back in. This skid was a bid easier to get out compared to other SC skids I've done in the past . This was due to the front skidframe bolts being offset with a nut instead of that screwy sheeve that would spin every time you tried to loosen the bolts.

anytime you are doing an R&R with a skidframe use a ratchet strap to compress the rear springs and the frame will go in and out slicker then owl's poop. if you don't have a ratchet strap then you can always remove the spring supports and the skidframe will squeeze right down.

I slide mine out through the windows all the time, but fortunately Cat sliders are narrower.

That would be why you take them out "all the time".....................

I also pull my sliders through the windows and have never cut the track to doo this. The only reason I would take the skid frame out is if it had not been out for an inspection that year. In reality it is best to doo both at once. Putting the sliders in through the window is even easier as you just put them in sideways and twist.
