I have a couple of buddies with some vintage Kitty Kats....

Both are doing the same thing. They run good wide open for a little while and then crap out.

The one has fresh ignition and on the other I have inspected the carb and found nothing too terrible.

Any ideas?

Sorry about the lack of info, I don't have either of these in the garage to play with on my own.....

Thanks

BTW....it is a T5A Carb on the thing....can it be upgraded to a newer style (mikuni I assume) without much trouble?

Seeing as they are vintage is there any chance the fuel tanks are full of rust/debris/crap? Something that is being sucked up? As with any small engine there are very small passages in the carbs which plug easily and are sometime hard to clean. Do they have any type of fuel filter?

All the fuel system has been cleaned and checked.

Another coworker has found a website that guys are ditching the stock carb and using some off snowblowers. With some simple mods they apparently work great.

The information I got from RV Sports is that all the old parts for the carbs have been bought out by some guy in Allentown PA and are not available from factory sources anymore....

The newer style carb will fit with some modifications apparently also....

Tough to do research without first hand knowledge of what is actually happening..... :dazed:

Thanks for the help....
