: Mmmmm Baking Away.
84EVR 12-28-2005, 07:55 PM Well, I'm pretty bored right now.
Been baking my pipe here at work for the past 2 hours.
You have to bake at 250 for 30 min. Then cool for 30 min.
Then bake at 400 for 30, and cool for 30.
Then 600 for 30 and cool.
Seems like good paint, hopefully it holds up.
Sure am glad I took it all off to paint. Found my Y pipe was cracked on the underside.
Welded her up and good to go.

Yeah, I'm stinking up the lab pretty good right now. Good thing it's Christmas break.
I'm at the 600 degree bake now.
Bluehaze 12-29-2005, 09:09 AM Looks like you could use this smilie Robb...

crnsuperduty 01-09-2006, 12:56 PM Looks great rob!! I tried some of the cheaper stuff last week. It is flaking off badly already. I'm having thoughts of getting it ceramic coated this spring. I had my headers for the camaro done last year, they look great. The coating holds up as well.
permafrost 01-09-2006, 01:31 PM Looks sharp, it is nice to pop the hood without revealing a rusty scab below.:)
I use the BBQ paint and doo the pipes yearly. It lasts for the season but always needs retouching the next year. At least they still look like new.

Hopefully going for a ride next weekend.

paul yarek 01-09-2006, 07:04 PM looks real nice tucked away in there.
CORY9 01-09-2006, 07:10 PM Just curious, what kind of paint was it? Yea, I know, high temperature, but brand or type?

looks the best man-but do i see just a little smudge of 2 stroke dust on the curbside cowling?? :lmao: :lmao:
you ARE my kind of sled head.
my 01 pantera looks almost new also.
TallCool1 01-09-2006, 08:33 PM Looks good Rob. You're reminding me I need/want to do something with my twin pipes. Think I will just look into getting them ceramic coated this summer when I get the skid powdercoated.
84EVR 01-10-2006, 07:06 AM Cory9, It was VHT, flameproof header paint. If I did it again, I would buy the Satin Clear coat also. To shine it up a bit. It's a little dull for my taste. I got it from AutoZone.
bosshoss, YES! I noticed that smudge too after posting the pic. I think it is brake dust.
I think I will go home and clean her up. lol!
Thanks for the compliments everyone.
84EVR 01-23-2006, 10:43 AM Well. Put around 500 miles on it this past weekend and the pipe still looks just like in the pic. Even the Y pipe. Lets here it for VHT paint.
