Just got my first sled. Its a 89 wildcat 650. Had to replace the top end, eric gorr set me up with a bored 790. What did you guys think of this sled back then. I haven't started it yet, hopefully today.

I am guessing the suspension is not as smooth as newer ones, but how will the power compare to newer sleds?

Thanks.

I had an 88, fun sled but won't match up to today's sleds. It's still old technology like my 95 Tcat.

They are heavy, ride rougher and don't handle as well as newer sleds. They aren't as refined and the power isn't a s good and the response isn't as smooth. It should do 100 mph, and should be 120 or so horsepower. Not a bad older sled, just not as smooth as current machines. You could do a lot worse than that sled to start on, although for a smaller or younger person it might be a bit too powerful for a beginner.
