Thank You Guys........as you both probably know, these two counties are where we like to go alot and I do have both of these sites in my favorites on aol... www.paradisemichigan.org (http://www.paradisemichigan.org)....... and www.chippewasnowchasers.com (http://www.chippewasnowchasers.com) I check them frequently :D

If anyone goes up to these places and rides, a first hand trail report would be very much appreciated because I guess I can never hear enough..

Just got home from Newberry/Paradise yesterday.......The trails are in good shape now with the exception of the swamp trail in Paradise. It is open but there still are some wet corners to watch for.
All the trails were in good shape with plenty of snow . Here is a pic of the side of the trail near Newberry that we had to get off for the groomer.

My family and I just returned from filled weekend in Luce County.

After checking into the Halfway Lake Resort (http://www.halfwaylake.com), which I would recommend highly, we got dressed and loaded up for a short little trip for dinner. We rode out to Redz Wolf Inn for some great eats and then headed into Newberry for fuel. The trails were in really good shape and the forecast called snow over night.

Saturday - We headed out to Grand Marais after breakfast and were welcomed with fresh powder and groomed trails. As we were touring along I wasn't paying attention to the signage and after several miles I realized we were heading to McMillan so we had to turn around. Once we got back on track the ride was great and snow was flying in the air at times you could hard see infront of you. Surprisingly there wasn't a whole lot of traffic on the trails. I like to take a short cut over to trail 443 via county rd 451 when I pulled off to the road I ducked out of sight just briefly and during that time my wife and daugther passed by. My son and I waited for 5-10 minutes and after they didn't show up I went looking well to make a long story short we eventually catch up with each other. We have a plan that I always wait at the next "Stop sign" for them to catch up so when my wife arrived before me see new something was up. Needless to say only time was lost and no one else and boy was I glad to see them I was very worried. We headed north on 443 and stopped at the hotdog stand for coco and pee break then off to GM we had a great lunch at the pub. We took the North trail back to our cabin and was treated to great scenery and awesome trail conditions and again very little traffic. We short cutted back to the cabin once we hit pine stump. Via county road our cabin was only 7 miles and by trail nine about 36 miles. The kids were tried and cold so we took the short cut. All day the snow was flying and made for great riding. We left our camera's in Grayling.....dummies :bash: Later that night we rode into Newberry and treated the kids to root beer floats.

Sunday - We decided to head to the falls and took the north trail. We have another dose of fresh powder and the trails were in grand shape. Fifteen minutes intot he ride my wife realized she didn't turn the coffeemaker off so I blew back and unplugged the thing.....again only time was lost. We stopped at the Two Hearted Lodge for hot chocolate. The groomers have done a great job keeping the trails in awesome shape. We then proceeded to Paradise and then to the falls for lunch. As usual the food was great and the only chop in the trails was heading out of the fall to newberry on trail 45, but that is to be expected for all the traffic that was coming into the falls. All the towns were buzzing with sleds but we really never encountered alot of trail traffic. Once we got back into Newberry we fueled up and headed back to our cabin.

My son and daugther have been wanting to learn to drive our touring sleds so halfway back we decided to let them drive us home. They did a wonderful job and I'm looking forward to when they can have their own sleds....They had smiles on their faces the rest of evening.

Monday - We awoke to fresh powder again but the only sledding was loading up. I had to run by my office in Newberry before we headed home. The trails looked in great shape and I was wishing we could have taken one last ride.

We had a wonderful time and the snow gods have been very good to this area in February.
