100ks last week in the midland before Christmas.
about 5k running in the field at my shop on Monday setting up the suspension, until my friend on his formula hits a deep rut and his machine goes one way and him the other. About $200 dollars in parts and some scrapped knuckles to fix it, but thats the price you pay for riding in poor conditions. He also got spanked by the big touring!

Paul, I've put on around 260 miles so far. Conditions north of Bancroft are good. We worked on our trail out of Apsley yesterday & today. Our gang will probably be heading out for a ride on Saturday.

:christmas: We put on about 300km in Haliburton Forest from Friday till last night. A few of the secondary trails we could have used a quad as there wasn"t enough snow. I was helping a buddy haul his gear into his camp saturday night from base . The groomer was going up the North rd and I said I hope he goes along the East rd. Well he sure did and it was smooooth all the way to my camp. The other half wants to go again this weekend and I just can"t say no.

got 160 km in so far. Trails have been groomed once, but that basically scraped down quite a bit. Carbides are still rubbing rocks under the snow. Lakes are frozen, but thanks to all the yahoos running through the foot or so of slush last week, the lakes are REALLY rough. Not real fun riding right now, as it sucks having to steer at 20 km/hr for hours on end.

I've put almost 50 kilometers on the sled running around on the frozen, lightly snow covered ice infront of us. Traction is a problem (no studs yet) but I potentially could play all day.
The trails aren't ready here, should be soon if this mild spell passes and we get some snow.

I also got some miles on in Haliburton Forest on Thursday. Buzzed up and down some of the side roads and managed to get about 200 miles on.

My new sled is just awesome :D . Oh man do I want some more snow now :sly: .

Up here in the Soo, the season started out good but took a turn for the worse MOST lakes have about 5-8 inches of good ice but the water inlets and outlets are not frozen on most lakes,, I don't trust the ice yet, only a foot of snow North ( most places ) of us, and hardly anything East of us good base right now just need colder temp.. and more snow and we would be rockin

Hey all,
Just got back from 5 days up north in OFSC District 10. There were a few trails open along Highway 141, and the Seguin Trails were open. It was my first time on them and they are amazing! Some incredicle riding. We even crossed a few lakes (WOT). I think it was Whitefish Lake. We also did some speed runs on our oun small lake (Sucker Lake).

Saw the groomer out, so got off that trail. Most are still really bumpy, and there are several places where you pretty much corss a small stream. Had to stop a few times to contemplate crossing. All in all, it was a great 220 kms logged on the machines.

Picture of the scenery on a seguin trail.

Stoped for gas at Alves Esso on Highway 400 and they were closed, went to Jolly Roger Inn, there pump was closed, finally went to Horseshoe Lake Camp and got some gas.
Anyone been here before?

I was out twice after that big dumping we got back before Christmas between Sydenham and Napanee, rode to work one day ( 82 km there and back) and then Chrissy and I went for a little spin the next night, trails were all nice and groomed. We need about 6" of fresh snow on the base now :( Oh well, it'll come... if it would STAY COLD!!!!!!!! :bash:

Put on about 150 Km over the past two days.

Mostly lake riding (yes Rice Lake is still good) as the trails are pretty much toast, until we get more snow.

Good news, they are calling for -10 by Friday :D But we have to endure some rain before then.

Total of 650 K north of Bancroft and Paudash. Trails are ok and will get only better. One question how can the restaurant in Harcourt close at 3 pm on a holiday????

I can't figure out how everyone is logging these miles, when everytime I go to the OFSC website, all the trails are supposedly closed! If the trails are open, why don't they let us know for pete's sake. $180.00 for a trail pass you buy in November to wait till near end of January to use for 8-9 weeks.

Bit frustrated that I haven't been able to ride yet obviously, being that I got a new sled for a display piece in my barn apparently!

Thats what I was thinking, how is it people riding trails when they are not open. Is there something I am missing. Can I use the trails even when they are not open on OFSC site ?

OFSC doesn't usually update things as fast as the actual clubs website.

There are trails open in limited form in quite a few areas.

We have the local radio station giving daily updates, and the trails around us (north of Parry Sound) are not open. They have been packing but need more snow. It doesn't matter though as there are lots that will ruin carbides and tracks venturing on them anyways. Me, I'll wait it out, didn't pay all that money for sleds just to damage them.

If we get desperate we'll pack up the trailer and either head way north or to the Haliburton forest.

Well me and some buddy's put about 200-250 km's on yesterday the trails were bumpy and in one spot out by Restoule the groomer was going through a swamp and he kept breaking through so he turned around and we had to skip a bunch of water and one guy in our group popped a piston in the middle of it...he almost went down. but most the lakes around my house in Trout Creek are good and safe. here is a pic

Forest is southern Ontario not far from Sarnia. And yes, we do get some snow down here. Before X-mas it was looking great, since, all we have had is rain.

Hey Paul,

Before X-Mas, we put on 160km going from Barrie to Penetanguishene to Midland to Moonstone and back to Barrie :) . The trails were OK, but we did hit a lot of rocks, branches and went through a few mud holes and ponds  .
On X-Mas eve, I put another 60km on lake Nipissing at my parents' place in Sturgeon Falls. There was 6-9" of ice and only a few slushy spots :christmas: . Gave rides to the kids and pulled them on the GT Snow Racer, lots of fun.
On Monday we took another ride from Shelburne up the B trail to Creemore, then west to Dundalk and back to Shelburne on the rail trail :D . The trail conditions were much better but there were lots of branches on the trails due to a small ice storm. There was also lots of fog, but still worth the ride :hallo1: . This one was 151km for a total of 371km!!!
All of these trails rides did show open on the OFSC web site.
It sucks now due to the rain but Haliburton is showing 10-15cm of snow between today and tomorow, I know where my next ride is  .

Here are some pics of Monday:

Later,
Steph
