I've got a 01zrt600 and I'm interested in a clutch kit. I've read some have put there own together using all sorts of different shapes and sizes of weights, and helix angles and such and I get lost :bash: . What I'd like to know is if this is a better way to tune in a clutch or will a off the shelf kit be just as good? Are there any recommendations for a <strike>good</strike> great off the shelf clutch kit for this machine which is all stock other than a gutted air box and a 1 1/2" paddle track. Also, what are some of you using for a home built clutch kit. The majority of my riding is groomed trail with the occasional "Where do you think your going" lake blast. I'd love to get a better holeshot just like everyone else. I currently only have about 1300 miles on the sled and I'm wanting to go thru the whole cleaning process and while I was at it I wanted your opinions on tuning it.
Thanks a bunch

I just installed an erlandson kit in my 97 zrt 600 and man what a difference,i was looking for the same thing as you,HOLESHOT,and i got it.i can't believe how much quicker it feels and how much better it pulls all the way through the powerband, they do strongly recomend studs with their kits but i think your track will make that up especially in loose snow,
Others also suggest D&D or Goodwin kit's,have not heard enough good about black magic.
I see you must ride up here where i live,i bet you have been to pub&grub up by Valhalla.

57/50 helix....I think they were stock on the mountain T-cat .....and the red secondary spring from A/C........very cheap and you will be pleased with the results.

Can't say Ive been there. We mostly ride from your cabin in Minong (washburn county) to Iron River and Amnagon. I'm quite sure there are a few differences from your 97 to my 01 as far as clutching set up and components, But, with your Erlandson kit, What did it do to your top? Increase-Decrease. How is it on the twisty trails? How are they about getting your order shipped. I've recently heard D & D's shipping isn't happening. lost orders, Back orders, on-line order delay's, ECT.... Have you heard anything goog or bad about Hammertime kits? Thanks for your responce. I'll diffinetly look into the Erlandson.

Erlandson is very fast on their orders, and great service, they will help you all the way.
i really did'nt gain much on the top ,but i did'nt lose anything either, but man it sure woke up the bottom end and the midrange, which is great for the twistys, that's where i had my problem before,it was like it had to wind up coming out of a corner,ow it is flat out gone,it really pulls now,and it is a lot quicker.
they also give easy to follow instructions i would recommend them to anyone with any brand sled.
i ride to iron river quite a bit but then i go north from there, sometimes south to drummond, nice radar run happening on feb 4th at the eagles nest in the delta area.
