unloaded in Howard Brook yesturday and went towards Juniper for dinner. Snow conditions were good with a tricky crust. as sson as we got north of juniper, the snow conditions just kept gettign better. There wasnt anything groomed from howard brook to juniper but the Glassville area had most of there trials groomed. we had fun on the freshly groomed trials but the sweetest riding was off on the rds that are never travelled. Lots of snow and u could pretty much go anywhere. there are some bad washouts that u really have to watch for. one bad one on trial 53 south of juniper. may be hitting that area again this weekend.
unloaded in juniper saturday for another great ride.
If anyone does plan on heading to this area i strongly recomend taking along someone that knows there way in the maze of trials or at least take a gps with you. There are a load of secondary trials above juniper to arthurette or over towards Bath and Bristal area. There are a number of intersections that are not marked very well and a few that dont have any signs at all. I am serious on that one. Good thing we had Gps, in the first 20 miles i had it out at least 7 or 8 times trying to figure out which way to go. There is also a few logging operations along the way. with the amount of snow though, the plowed rds are still great for riding on. the sad part is that when u do come to a plowed rd, there no signs telling us riders which way to go. we find that there is little traffic in this area and sometimes u are not able to fallow the tracks of sleds. I wonder if the reason why nobody rides this area, is because of the poor usage of signs. we also have found in the past few yrs that there are not enough warning signs for dangerous corners and such in this area so take notice. i was in contact with the president of the club in that area eather last year or the year before. he assured me that the signs would improve and he would look at the situation. It doesnt seem like it has. :slick:
