Hey Arctic Cat guys,

I know nothing about Arctic Cat sleds, so I decided to ask you all.
I got my younger brother into sledding, and now my very youngest (16) brother wants a sled as well. My parents don't think he's ready for a sled, but he's been riding my Phazer and my bro's Ski-Doo formula. It kills him to see us leave for sled trips now.

We just want to get him on a small sled for around the cottage and lake. Possibly for even the trails if he wants to buy a permit now. He's looking to spend about 900 maximum.

Looking at a 1990 Artic Cat Jag 340. Don't know anything more about it, but the guy said to call back and he will tell me all the new parts on it. (not sure if it's a good thing or bad thing) I guess depends on which parts.

So, any input about the sled would be appreciated.

Thanks.

My brother had about the same year Jag. All I know is he was about 250 at the time and rode that 2x4 suspension and engine into the ground and it never gave on him. New parts on an older sled are usually a good thing.

For 900 you are going to be hard fought to find much and I think this should get him through the year or 2.

I bought a 99z440 for 500 bucks and put a used bulkhead in it and I have 800 bucks invested along with my time. If your handy with a few rivets and a basic tool set you can do this too!

Jags are pretty much a never die sled.

What would you figure a sled like that would go for? Canadian currency.
I swear I've seen a few Jags out there jsut under the 1000 mark...

This time of the year you'll be hard pressed to find anything running well for much less than a thousand, hang on for six weeks and the prices will plummett.
Make sure you do a compression test, problem with small engines like the 340 is you have to run them hard to keep up.
