was at the dealer today, and saw what they told me was a 2000 mxz 800. I thought 2001 was the first year of 800's http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif
Any problems with this sled? It has a long track kit on it, and I think I might be considering saying bye-bye to the 670 and going for a bigger yellow rocket http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

there is no 2000 mxz 800. *your right 2001 was the first year of the mxz 800. *so its probably a 2001.
From what I've heard and read there was a limited amount built for 2000. I think mainly
for dealer testing. If you look on the ski-doo microfiche there is one listed for the year 2000.

They definitley had the 800 engine in 2000 so it doesn't surprise me that they slapped a few in.

They were a mid year release. So yes, there are 2000 MXZ 800's

I have a buddy who picked one up last year. *He put on a few hundred miles with no problems (other than the occassional spanking by a 700!http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif *The sled has a total of 2000+ miles with no problems reported by the dealer.

Didnt the 2000 model mxz's all have "2000 series" stamped in the side of the tunnel? Mine does !
* You might want to look into the long track kit,I have heard the rail extensions are very weak and do not hold up to aggresive riding/jumping. You could always replace the rails though...M2C

Yes, there was a 2000 MXZ 800. Less than 500 made so they're not race legal. They had DPM, toe holds, short brake lever, and tunnel roll grips. Also, they had the flat slide carbs that the other 2000 MXZ's were supposed to get but didn't.
As a side note, yes there was a limited build 1999 MXZ 700 and Summit 700. Less than 500 of each of those also.

Were there any problems with this sled? I hate buying a "guinea pig" year...anything? Anything that should be done to it right off the bat?

The dealer my buddy got his from did the 2001 piston recall work on the engine. *
For what it is worth, I have put 2000+ miles on my 1999 "guinea pig" 700 with zero problems.
