Went for a night ride with McCrakin in the woods near my house last night. We were going at a good pace when out of the woods came a smallish deer. I just managed to veer off and the Bambi did the same, we did however come together resulting in a a sore shoulder & cracked hood with fir in it. Bambi scooted off none the worse for wear. Watch out for those nightriding Bambis.

Good one, wouldn't make light of it except you're all right. Thanks for the reminder, a potential danger I don't always think about

Simon,
i'm glad that's the worst of it and that you didn't have to go see a thumbdoctor.

lucky me i've never had a close encounter with a deer on the trail.

Glad you're okay Simon.
Sorry to hear about your hood.

I had a deer jump over a 10' - 12' high snowbank while I was riding along the edge of a road.
The deer appeared out of nowhere as I couldn't see over the snowbank.
It landed about 15 - 20 feet in front of me and continued on as if I wasn't even there. I hit the brakes as soon as it came into my peripheral vision on it's way down and fortunately I was able to avoid hitting it. Especially considering I was riding Jacqui's sled at the time.
Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Don't tell her about this little incident. I may have neglected to mention this tiny, itsie-bitsie, teensie-weensie, little detail after I got back from our ride. LOL

That's to close for comfort really. I've never had any problems with deer. To tell you the truth I've never really thought much about them running out infront of me. It could happen though. There was one guy riding a dirt bike that t boned a deer on a polker ralley one afternoon. He got hurt pretty bad too.

Glad to hear that you came out okay though.

I hit one in the Jordan valley by Gaylord around '92. Hurt me (nothing broken but painful) and bambi ran off. Did over $2,000 damage to my sled back then. Kevin

Took a scoot down the trails tuesday (before the big melt) and there were deer everywhere, no sled tracks just deer tracks.
