my sled from dead stop will take off straight to 8500 and pulls hard but from say 60 it may go to 7500 or 8000 and it still pulls decent. i think its because i put a straight angle helix in it last year just something to try, and they dont backshift good.
my question is what helix should i use?
which is better for drag racing i know the stock one is better for trail riding.

because if the straight angle is better for racing i would get another clutch for trail riding.

Have you ever changed your secondary spring? If not, I would start there, a weak/old secondary spring can cause lack of backshift. After that, you might try to put the dual plane back in as well...

Sounds like the straight angle one you put in is a higher angle than your stock one. Your secondary is shifting out fast, causing the rpm drop, and then when you give it gas while coasting, it's staying shifted up, so it feels a bit "soggy" like you describe.

My personal preference is a smaller angle than stock, and one that is coated. You can run more pin weight in the primary so that the lower angle will shift out faster, plus backshifting is much better. With the helix I have in my sled, you better not let off the gas too fast, you'll end up flying off the front of the sled. Plus get back into the gas at 60 and you'd better hang on!

Not sure why I just said secondary spring, if your primary spring is old, replace that too. Then go from there...
