After a few miles of riding today, I noticed a whining sound at idle coming from the clutch. I don't know a whole lot about clutches, so I'm wondering if this is an easy fix like cleaning or lubricating? Or, could it be major?

Then, while looking things over, I noticed that I can slide the secondary clutch back and forth 1/8" on the shaft. And, I can turn it almost 2" before the track catches. Are these normal for the secondary? If not, are they easy fixes?

Thanks for any input.

I just did some online research and found that the whine or "squeal" could be from an incorrect belt. It's never done it before, but I had switched to the spare belt, which was a used one. That's when it started squealing.

One belt says 89L-17641-01 and one says 89L-17641-00. Are these 2 different sizes? Could this cause the noise? Could a worn belt cause it?

I know I need a new belt, just hoping that might fix things.

Same sled as you, and I will check tomorrow.

I bought a Ultimax 3 before and it turns out the numbers were wrong at the factory so they sent me two of the right size belts and while running the wrong belt for that time, it howled and screamed like hell. It was so tight that the sled would keep moving when I wasnt on it.

Also, my sled squeals at idle too sometimes, like off an on, but bump the revs up and it goes away. This year I changed the fan belt and bearing, checked the recoil and put new belt on and it still squeals. It sounds like a chirping though, different from a squeal.

Let me know if its only at idle at the lowest running RPM or if it is still around through some RPM's, like until 2000rpm.
