Ice should be nice and thick now. I was right there when that guy went through Seton Channel. I was getting a pizza and some guy look concerned on the bridge. I knew something was wrong. It was already too late. This was a few weeks ago already. Also be careful out in those channels. The speed limit is 15 MPH. I got a speeding ticket through Seton Channel a few years ago, $175.00 :cussing: . They only say 50 mph is the limit on lakes. BS. The cops told me it's 40 mph 1500 ft from shore or less and 15 mph through channels AFTER I got my speeding ticket. They don't say this in the lame snomobile regulations for MN either...
I wish we could trade this cold weather for a foot of snow. Still not enough here for quality snowmobiling... 612er 02-04-2007, 11:05 PM The ice is safe enough for sleds on Calhoun. I went riding through there yesterday. D.T. 02-10-2007, 06:36 AM The ice is safe enough for sleds on Calhoun. I went riding through there yesterday.[/b]
Lake Calhoun? It's not the one in downtown Minneapolis is it? Can you even ride a sled there?
Anyway, we had a 2-3" snowfall last week, but it's still too cold in this area to ride. Snow is very hard and thin.
This page from the DNR is pretty good for trail info...

As for Minnetonka, I was just riding out there this past weekend. Posted right at the boat landing by the Water Patrol headquarters were summer and winter lake rules. It said that 50mph was the max during the day (I can't remember the night speed) and 15mph within a few hundred feet of the shore. | |
