I was checking over my sled today adding some oil and changing my plugs for the weekend and I noticed that there was a larger bolt and 2 washers laying in the bottom of my sled under the crankcase( i first thought this could be bad) I then checked for empty bolt holes and noticed one of my motor mount holes was empty and that the motor had shifted about an 8th of an inch over the hole, I immediatly pushed the motor back to its original position and bolted it back down........what would cause this bolt to come loose and come out? I was riding the machine hard on sunday but I didn't think I would loosen a motor mount over hitting a few kms of moguls.

One more thing, this has happened to alot of my previous ski doos and the one I own now, the thumb warmer came off the throtle hand, what should I use to put it back on? apoxy or glue? this is all off my 1997 summit 583

thanks

Its not a bolt. the actual motor mount broke. When they are new they are one piece that look like a rubber pad sandwiched in between 2 washers and threads on both sides. Is this what yours looks like?

yes and there is also a piece that mounts to the chassis of the snowmobile itself, that is what bolt came loose the rubber pieces were all ok, it is below them where the motor conects to the chassis
