i bought a 03 blair morgan 800,and it came with electric start.does anyone know what i need to change in order to remove it?i heard that on the morgan something is different that a normal rev on the electric start for some reason.the person i got it from said he thought he had to splice a wire or two into something, but i can't find where.he said he did not change any harness though.i took off the battery and starter, etc, but when its at idle the lights are bright and when i give it a good rev the lights dimm...any help would be great, thanks

You will need to change the voltage regulator to one from a non elec. start sled. Yours is a regulator/rectifier that converts the AC voltage that your stator makes to DC to keep the batery charged. The standard regulator just regulats the AC voltage. I am in the process of converting my 02 800 to electric start and I am having just the opposite issues.
If you can post a pic of your regulator I can more than likely tell you which one you will need to get. It should be located on the "muffler" side of the engine at the front corner of the engine. It is a small alum. box that has black epoxy on the top with 4 to 7 wires coming out of it.

i know on older motorcycle systems with a battery, if it is removed you need to install a battery eliminator[aka big capaciter this stores a charge so if there is anything that needs to still run on dc voltage it will still work. i would look at the install instructions for an electric start kit or the 2 wiring diagrams for the 2 different models to see what is different.hope this helps. dan
