: National Lampoon's Snowmobile Vacation
Turbocat06 02-08-2006, 06:23 PM My brother and I were tooling down the trail last night, when we came upon two snowmobiles and three riders standing in the middle of the trail. It looked like two of the guy’s were fighting, but when we stopped to see what was going on, it became apparent that one guy was frantically trying to dig snow out of the other guy’s face shield so he could get his helmet off. My brother asked the guy who was watching all this with a big grin on his face, which one bucked their passenger off. To which he replied, “no body his sled is over that bank.” Turns out he tried to do a three-point turn on the trail, and when he put his sled in reverse, he also stood up. The force of the sled in reverse, threw him forward, and his leg hit the throttle. He then went like hell and flipped over the front of the sled and landed on his face. His riderless sled then went careening over the bank LOL. Took five of us an hour to carry and drag his sled back up the bank! He thanked us and said I suppose the whole world is going to know about this by tomorrow. I looked at him and said, oh you have no idea!!! :D
flyin-lowe 02-08-2006, 06:26 PM I had never thought about this as this is my first sled with reverse but INSTANTLY after I read the title of this post I could picture what happend. And what you described sounds pretty much like what went through my head. :lmao:

poor farmer/logger 02-08-2006, 09:18 PM I too got the mental image in my head and started laughing. Never done that on my sled.
My bil was out riding with one of his friends one time. They decided they were going to race. Bil was on a Polaris and his buddy was on a Ski Doo. They were siting talking before they raced with the engines running and he secrectly reached over and pushed the button for reverse. I guess his buddy didn't see it cause when they took off one was going wot forward and the other was going backwards. :lmao: :lmao: Pretty mean if you ask me, but he did it not me. :D

I've seen someone from this site do the very same thing. He was lucky enough to just shoot backward off the trailer in the parking lot with a flip for an ending. He did get hurt and it could have been much worse. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people stand up while driving their sleds in reverse. Once you are leaning against the throttle lever while in reverse, it's very hard to get off of it. Sitting down this won't happen. This is uncle idooski...signing off.

Sled cam? Hmmm...
underdog 02-09-2006, 08:09 AM LMAO... The mental picture is a funny one while you read that for sure . I guess i'm guilty as a passenger on the back of my step bro's 03 500 Polaris with reverse for standing up when he hit it . I went over him, and ate snow . lol. He did it on purpose to me to teach me to sit while in reverse. As Paul stated my Nads were in my throat , after the collision with his helmet . lol

When I bought my touring sled, I thought that beeper was so people behind you would get out of your way. Now I know different! On new lawn mowers the engine will die if you try to get off the seat with the blades spinning. I see this as the future for sleds with reverse! ( maybe I shouldn’t have said that)
Bluehaze 02-09-2006, 09:48 AM a friend of mine fixed his nads twice on his 95 polaris xc 600 doing that.

What a shame,
I learned after the first time. :lmao:
You really need to SIT DOWN when you put it in reverse.
