Hello everyone. I found this forum searching the net on how to clean the RAVE valves and found it very informative. I just bought a 95 Formula STX LT 583.I pulled the valves out and when I did there was oil that came out with it. Is this normal? This is my first sled and am not really sure what the deal is. It wasn't like new oil it was a dark, black oil. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and if it is not normal would it have alot to do with why I keep fouling plugs out every other day. Thanks.

They were carboned up like that, not quite so bad. But there was actual oil that came out when I pulled the valves out. It was kinda runny and dark dark black. It wasn't like pouring out but there was enough of it out. Yes I did put new o-rings and gaskets on. Maybe it was cause the o ring wasn't tight against the valve stem. Not quite sure.

a little oil is normal but if your fouling plugs and had a lot of oil on the valves, your running rich. Might try to do a search on adjusting the oil pump or maybe somethings stuck open. How much oil do you go through?

That is not to far off. Next time run through the tank. Fill up and note the gallons, then add oil back to the full line and figure out your ratio. I think we should run 40:1 but will have to check my manual for sure. If you need to adjust the oil pump let me know as I just figured it out on mine last week.

Took it for a ride, this weekend and defenitely using too much oil. If you would help mlabudda I would appreciate it alot.
