I have a 94 Indy 500 EFI. At idle RPM's(about 1800) all my lights are dim and my oil warning light is flashing. When I ride the sled it stops doing this. It seems as soon as the RPM's get above 3000 everything is fine! I am going on a long trip this weekend and need any help possible to fix this tonight!

Hi,
Just a thought, but have you ever considered raising your idle speed.
My daugters 93 classic did the same thing. She would park it and the headlights would dim. I check all the specs on the mag/coil/stator plate etc. with a digital multimeter and all checked out to factory numbers
Clutch engagement is 4200, I set the idle for 2500. re-syncronized the carbs and have not had a problem in two years.
It is a real pain in the but when you stop on the trail to look at somthing and your lights dim down.
good luck

lights dimming normal unless you have a regulator problem at that rpm. oil light comming on sounds like a bad sending unit in the oil tank. how much oil in tank? will it happen with a full tank of oil or any time? let me know.

The problem happens with different levels of oil. I just rode about 400 miles on the weekend, so I know the oil is being used!

at this point i would start looking at the ground system. remember your motor is rubber mounted. there must be a ground system between your motor and instrument panel. this runs through the wiring loom. its possible that you lost a ground somewhere between the motor and instrument panel and your feeding back through your oil light to complete the loop. hood hinge area would be a good place to start. let me know and good luck. you can do it. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * snowmobster
