Hi
I'm buying a new ski-doo. I'm thinking of a summit or a skandic 600 SUV because I want something really good in deep snow and for breaking trails. I won't be riding in deep snow all the time but want an excellent machine when I do. Will a summit give me trouble (overheating and others) when riding on hardpacked and icy trails?

Thanks

I haven't had any problems with the 2in track on my renegade.

I just swing into the snow from time to time just to make sure put I've yet to have any issues.

Most sleds will act up if driven long enough on low cover, studs will help kick up some stuff.

slider melt would be an issue IMO

Why not get a Gade with 1.75 :sly:

If you do run hardpacked trails with a 1.75 or greater track, you either need to frequently hit the loose stuff when possible, or better is to mount a set of ice scratchers. These will kick up enough ice chunks and spray to keep your motor and sliders cool.

Unfortunately, what works best on hardpack doesn't work very well in deep snow, and what works well in deep snow doesn't work so well on hardpack. Whatever you buy is going to be a compromise, and you have to live with it under all conditions. Decide what you need more, deep snow performance or hardpack. Since it sounds like deep snow performance is your only priority, do yourself and your sled a favor and install a set of ice scratchers for when you have to run hard pack.
